I was honestly surprised and disappointed by my recent experience with Nordstrom’s customer service. I needed to return an item, but since there are no longer any Nordstrom stores close to me, I went to a Nordstrom Rack, assuming it would be a simple process. Instead, I was told the item couldn’t be returned there because it was purchased from a third-party vendor through the Nordstrom app, and that I would need to go to a full Nordstrom department store. This now means making a special trip of over 60 minutes round trip on a weekend just to complete a return. Even the Nordstrom Rack manager acknowledged that this policy is only mentioned in very small print online, which makes it easy for customers to miss. As someone who has been a loyal customer since the late 1980s, I’ve always associated Nordstrom with exceptional service and convenience. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste and felt far from the standard I’ve come to expect.
