top very fitted, skirt gigantic

I followed the size chart and ordered a large because of my bust measurement. Because this dress had a gathered waist, I thought it would be ok. The skirt is GIGANTIC! Like ballgown gigantic. I wouldn’t wear this to any semi-formal event. It would look ridiculous. The fabric and color were lovely.
