Tapered Pull-On Pants

Reason #712 for loving Nordstrom: I walked in desperate for some black dressy pants that I needed THAT evening and from the moment I walked in, the service was impeccable. The 1st sales associate listened intently to my urgent request, walked me over to another department’s sales associate where she also paid close attention to my request and then introduced me to Fauzia in another department. Fay (Fauzia) immediately went to a this trouser and asked me to try it on. PERFECT! Stress level gone and I am again so happy with Nordstrom service. Again, love Nordstrom service and quality.

Since these have gotten mixed reviews, I wanted to tell you why they work for me and I love them--the elastic waist is great for my large waist (I carry lower and upper tummy fat), the flat front is flattering for a larger tummy, and I found the hip right on point. Maybe this is that rare pair of pants that is a straight size (I got the L) but fits a body on the cusp better. They cost more than I would normally spend, but I like them so well I am considering a second par.

Could not disagree more with some of these bad reviews 1) the material is fantastic, especially for traveling! Can roll them in a ball and look great 2) I live in Chicago and easily wear these in the winter, so not sure about the reviewer saying how thin they are. I do agree that I wish they had belt loops on the back, but these are the best, versatile, all seasons pants. I’ve worn them for work with a blouse or sweater, casual with a hoodie and sneaks, and for date night with a feathered crop top. Obsessed! I’m 5’10” and they hit a tad higher on my ankle than the model.

I was looking for some lightweight, somewhat dressy pants for travel, and these seemed to fit the bill. I do like the idea of these pants. Pros: 1. They are indeed lightweight and dressy looking. The material (I tried in black) was surprisingly satin-y/has some sheen to it. So if you are wearing them for, say, to see a symphony while traveling, the material seemed nice. 2. The pants' construction seemed nice as well. Cons: 1. Being lightweight, the material is extremely thin. In transition weather, I might get cold without tights. 2. The material seemed almost too shiny for everyday travel. 3. They also seem to make my butt look big (my waist is 26" with 35" hip, but athletic butt). 4. The photo shows 2 belt loops in the front, so I thought these pants had belt loops all around. But no. There are NO belt loops on the sides or in the back. I know I could take them to Nordstrom alteration/local tailor to fashion some belt loops, but given the travel coming up shortly and the style not being too flattering on my figure, I decided against keeping them. Maybe they'd work better for someone who is taller? (XS was the right size for me.)
