Ruched Shirtdress

True to size, need a flat tummy for this one as it has the potential to add lbs around middle with that runched material!! So, the material is more like an old style gabardine, not shiny but not fully matte either, and has some movement and “give” to move as you walk & sit. Between each button is a snap fastener so it feels secure and I don’t feel like a button could pop in an awkward place at an inconvenient moment. Really shapely dress but more suitable for daytime than evening wear. Only thing that lets it down in my opinion are the buttons. They look cheap and for a dress that cost this $$$, it would have benefitted from something more unique than glorified shirt buttons which I will probably change at some point for small military style buttons in pewter or silver. I am 5’3” and dress ends just below my knee, but it doesn’t look too long due to the asymmetrical shape. It does flatter my petite frame but the material texture and buttons let it down, hence the reason I gave it 3 stars. I may end up returning it as it is very understated for the money spent.

I'm a very curvy size 12 due to recent (30 lb) weight gain and haven't worn a dress in a long while because I thought I looked terrible. I really needed a dress for an upcoming birthday dinner with my partner, so I tried on a bunch. Most were awful, but this dress is a godsend! The v neck shows some decent cleavage and the ruching covers my currently not so flat belly. I tried it on for him when I got home, and he almost fell off his chair. I'm pretty sure I'll be buying it in white as well!

I really liked the fit and style of this dress and wanted it to work because of the new fresh approach and light weight fabric I thought it would be great for summer, however, due to the slender fit around the knees and slightly longer behind the knee length it curls and flips up when you walk. I tried several times walking around the house, thought about taking it up in back, but thought it would mess with the styling so I ultimately decided to return it. I would be forever flip it down in the back after I walked anywhere.
