Cream Color Sphinx
This is the second color sphinx I've purchased, because it's a limited edition, and I absolutely love it. I also have a previous edition of Tom Ford's cream eyeshadow in the golden peach color. While I liked Golden Peach, Sphinx is my favorite. Tom ford is an expensive brand, but I've been very impressed overall by the quality of the different things I've tried.
Sphinx is a beautiful dual toned color with gold and some pink. It has some light sparkle, but not over the top, but may not be ideal for a daytime look. I've found that the quality of this one a bit better than when I've used Golden Peach. A little goes a long way with this formula also.
My favorite way to wear Sphinx is on the eyelid, layered over a light rose gold eyeshadow I wear as a basic color all over. This color really lights up my blue eyes and I've received a lot of compliments when I've worn this.

Prettier in the jar then on the lids
I really wanted to like this as I love cream shadows. I bought Sphinx and as I like the pink/gold hue. Once I put it on my eyes it is too sheer and the sparkle wasn't the kind I like that would be suitable for daytime wear. I should have suspected it would be too sheer when the girl tried to say it you can place shadow on top as use it as a primer. Guess I will stick with my Dior and Chanel as I never go wrong with with them. Sorry this one is being returned.

Gorgeous and expensive glitter
I spent a lot of time reading about this eyeshadow, and other cream eyeshadows, looked at many swatches online as well as YouTube reviews. First, I decided to try Chanel Illusion D'ombre in Emerveille (82). I've been wearing this eyeshadow for a couple of months and have been pretty happy with it. Easy to apply, shimmery (not glittery) and silky, with an okay staying power in a hot and humid climate (about 4-6 hours).
A few days ago, I decided to try TF cream eyeshadow in Sphinx. I read reviews and looked at the swatches online again. When it arrived, I was very excited to finally put it on my eyelids! Well, I was not happy with the result. This eyeshadow is very glittery, too glittery for an everyday wear. It's a finely milled beautiful glitter that sparkles like crazy! The colors are beautiful as well. However, I don't see myself wearing it as an all over color. If I put a little bit on my eyelids, it doesn't cover the lids well - looks like a sparkling dust rather than cream; if I layer it on my lids, then it can only be worn as a night look on the town.
Lastly, I can easily wash off my Chanel cream eyeshadow with soap and water. I found TF's Sphinx eyeshadow to be difficult to remove even it's my Lancôme makeup remover. There still was some glitter left on my face after using makeup remover and soap and water! Because I don't see myself using this eyeshadow on a regular basis, I decided to return it. I am disappointed with the product and will be hesitant to try other TF makeup products in the future. To me, price has to be justified, and a very small jar of the gorgeous glitter that I can only use to accent my eyes once in a while falls short of being worth $45.

Less product!!
I was pretty annoyed with the smaller container, less product, and price increase!! I have the original ones and I still have quite a bit of product left, so they do last a long time. They should have priced these accordingly. Other than that, the product is really nice. I have spice, platinum, opal, sphinx, and the violet one. The violet one is not good for some reason. It's too wet and takes multiple layers to get opacity. It also creases. The other colors are excellent. They don't crease on me. I would recommend them for sure.

Lasting color
The texture is more gel-like than I expected. Dabbing it on with fingers, it is easily applied, and wears nicely all day. The formula is great - over a long day it faded slightly, but it didn't bunch, smear, or do anything it ought not.
"Opale" is a gorgeous sheen of color on my pale-with-freckles skin - total keeper. I also purchased "Spice", which is a strong brown metallic. Spice was a bit to much for me for day time - I'm too pale and too Seattle - but it will be nice for evenings out next winter when I want a dramatic look. "Sphinx" is an interesting opalescent pink&orange, with a little more of the latter - I got an 80s vibe in a good way from this one.
Really happy with the formula - it stays put and flatters. The jars are not large - that's the only reason for docking a star.

Best eyeshadow EVER!
Tom Ford nailed it this time. Perfection!!! Very richly pigmented but light to the touch. You need minimal product. Blends like a dream with finger or brush then sets and stays put. I don't have to worry about my shadow creasing or fading. I am 48 years old with hooded eyes and this shadow looks amazing on my brown eyes! Does not show off wrinkles. Such a pretty color and because it's buildable, this shadow is suitable for day, night, work, or casual days because of it's versatility. I bought a backup of this color, and sent one to my daughter which I am sure she is going to love! I know these shadows are pricey but quality is top notch and worth every penny because I have not found any product with any other brand that comes close to this one.

Great Quality Product
I love this product. It's very smooth, creamy, and easy to blend. It's very pigmented which is good in the sense that the color is more intense and does last, but a bit of a challenge to find the exact amount to use. I started with Spice and ordered Platinum as well. I agree with reviews that cream shadow creases less if at all and is more flattering for middle age and older eyes This product definitely shows that you get what you pay for in terms of quality as it is expensive. I used Bobbi Brown pot cream shadow, bur that was sadly discontinued. I'm finding Mac paint pots too drying. I highly recommend this product.
