Compact Crepe Flare Pants

These were not as expected but are really nice pants. The description could have been better. The fabric is more like a doubleknit than a crepe. So- a heavier weight than crepe. They are totally fitted to the knee then have a wide bell bottom. Not just a flare. There is a seam down the front of the leg. There is no hem, they just end. So if shortened with a traditional hem the bottom would end up too thick. These would be great for a ski resort, over snow boots which require a wide bottom, and with a nice ski sweater.

To be honest, I'm undecided on this purchase. I've been a Theory fan for a long, long time. I really didn't know what to expect, but the description "thick knit" is pretty accurate. They are a great very black color, the inseam is perfect for me, no adjustments needed (unless they fall down on my waist- no belt loops), sewn in pant crease and slim fitting, but comfortable through the thighs. They are a flare, but they are not "bell bottoms". They are high waisted, and for me, not the greatest profile (I don't look as fit in the abs from the side, which I am). As I mentioned, the waist is high, but it's not a tight fit, which you almost need to keep the weight of the pants to keep from dragging them down your hips. If you get hot easily, I would not say this is for the office. I think it's be great for a day or night date during cold weather with heeled shoes (boots especially) and a shirt (to tuck in) and a pretty blazer. Definitely the ski lodge. I was seriously thinking to exchange these for XS. but the only smaller size option I see is P- which usually means the length will be shorter, and I don't need that. You can makes these shorter with a good tailor, by cutting and then finishing the edge. At full price, I'd definitely return them. At $187- I'm on the fence, but thankfully still have a-lot of summer so I have time to decide.
