'Transit' Down Jacket

I bought this coat after, what I feel, has been a search that has lasted my entire adult life. I have NEVER been happy with a winter coat and usually wear something that is not warm enough. This coat is warm and stylish and comfortable! I am a size large, so I thought I needed to avoid puffy coats. Well, this one is super cute and actually slimming! I love it and you will too!!

I've been on a frustrated search for a warm down coat with a hood, enough room for a bulky sweater or a blazer underneath without compromising movement, and without a "Michelin Man" look. This coat fits the bill perfectly. It provides ample room in the upper body without bulk, and is slightly fitted at the waist (the coat is actually a bit MORE shaped than the stock photo suggests). The parka length is perfect, and hits me at the low hip/upper thigh. I ordered my usual size, as well as one size up, and I found this coat ran true-to-size. I have not put it to a true cold temperature test, but I have always found North Face products to live up to expectations, protection-wise. Compared to other down coats Nordstrom offers, the price is somewhat high; but a web search for a lower price produced nothing...so the choice was to purchase at full price since I need it now, or risk my size and preferred color being out of stock when it went on sale, and go the winter without it. I rarely purchase items at full price, but make exceptions when an item is exactly what I'm looking for, and I have no regrets about purchasing this coat at full price. The black color was exactly as expected based on the photo.

I got this jacket for my daughter, 5'6", 135 lbs. We ordered a small at first, but returned it for a medium. The medium was perfect and she absolutely loves it. She really likes the grey color, the length and that the sleeves are plenty long.

Love this jacket! Very flattering fit, warm yet light weight. Longer length, falls around hips, gives a longer lean look and provides more coverage. Bought 2, black and asphalt gray. The gray is a really cool color, dark gray, almost looks black, but with a fun, fashion forward sheen to it. Just enough room inside you can wear a sweater under it and still be able to move. Just wish the hood was a little bigger in front for more coverage when it rains, but otherwise perferct for the Seattle weather. My favorite, go to jacket!

This was the first North Face product I ever bought and now I understand why this brand is so popular. The coat is so lightweight that when you first try it on it is hard to believe that it will keep you warm. I have three kids under the age of five, so it is important to have something warm, comfortable, and not too bulky when getting kids in and out of the car, getting groceries, or just out for a casual date with my husband or friends. I love this coat!

My husband bought me this coat after trying on a few different styles in the store. I was happy with it until I noticed that it sheds...a ton. I always have tiny little feather down all over my coat and occasionally big white feathers coming out. I feel like a chicken! And the material gives me crazy static hair that poofs out every time I take the coat off. Its cute and stylish and warm-ish. For 30/40 degree days its fine, but any colder and I don't think I'd be as warm. The hood is a little big if wearing it up so its a little pointless at keeping your head warm, but I wear a hat anyway. I removed the hood and like another reviewer said, the zipped up height is a little awkward. Its hits your face in a weird place - unzipped and I can't get it to lay flat so its always hitting my chin. Its a bit open so cold air can get it - definitely need a scarf. I may consider returning if I still can. On the plus side, it is very light weight and form fitting. For a cute coat, definitely a win. But for the price, I would expect less shedding. I also have some strings coming out around the pockets.
