Perfect Long Rain Jacket
I have been needing to get a long rain jacket for ever now. Living in the Pacific Northwest where not only does it rain a lot but is often cold, I find myself wearing long sweaters and covering them with a shorter rain jacket, and the look was not cute! I love this jacket and can't wait to wear it this fall and winter! It's a perfect jacket to wear with layers and can be lightweight enough to wear into the spring. It's a deal I couldn't pass up with the anniversary sale!

nope
I typically don't write reviews but wanted to make others aware that the jacket pictured is NOT what you will get. The newer version of the Laney raincoat is a different fabric, the hood isn't removable, and it a has camouflage lining. I re-ordered it again because I assumed I was sent the wrong jacket and guess what showed up again? Not the one in the picture. :) Both are going back and wish Nordstrom would update the photo so this doesn't happen to others!

Perfect.
I have finally found the perfect raincoat for me. The North Face Laney trench is everything I had hoped for in a raincoat. I stay completely dry in the Seattle rain now. I love that it is completely lightweight and packable. I tend to get too hot in fleece lined jackets and prefer to layer for warmth underneath with lightweight sweaters, etc, which this coat allows me to do. I also appreciate that the coat doesn't scream North Face with its subtle and monotone logo stitching, so that I can get away with wearing this with dressier outfits. The buckle detail at the waist makes the coat look polished and flatters the body. The removable hood is a bonus! My only "complaint" is that I wish there was at least one zippered inner pocket to carry my phone and a small wallet in safely. Otherwise, well done North Face!

just right raincoat
I am 5"4 and 130 lb. medium built. Medium is slightly loose, but as much as I could wear heavy sweater underneath. I purchased Grey. The color goes with all the sensible clothes I own.
Outer shell is softer than most raincoats I tried on and has almost invisible checker like print. Inner shell is black and has no insulation. Waist line is visible and makes sleek silhouette.
There is no inner pockets. Two outer pockets has no flaps.
Works as windbreaker. Length is mid-thigh, totally cover hips and more. Only one logo, not visible unless I look for it, located at the left sleeve.
This raincoat is well-made and I will wear this any occasions for a long time.

The best there is
I've tried raincoats ranging from $400 all the way to this one & the Laney is the most flattering for me. I am 5'5" and 155 pounds with a 36-38 C chest and the large was too big everywhere . The medium fits perfectly. I wish it had a two way zipper but that's all I would change about it. I tried the Arcteryx Codetta and it's a piece of junk, I tried the North Face Bionic trench but I hated the belt and the sizing was off. I even like this better than a Burberry raincoat! Get it before it's gone. I got the black.

perfect for every season
This coat is the perfect rain coat, it looks really nice on, the waist is just tapered enough that it keeps a nice shape but you can still wear a solid sweater underneath. Its good at blocking the wind, but its breathable enough to wear in the summer during a heavy rain. Its long enough to cover you so when you sit down you're sitting on coat and not a wet bench
(if you're outside). Very rain proof, have worn it in downpours while doing errands and the water just beads up on the coat without ever getting through. As a size reference, i'm 5'8", 135 usually a size 4 and the small fit perfectly
