They can wear the hooded outerwear and the fleece inner jacket separately or together for maximum warmth. The large is a perfect fit for my 12 year old son. He's 5ft and 87lbs. I love the fleece lining for when it's cold and how he can take it out and just use the rain jacket part for soccer trainings in the rain. Great jacket!
