Mary Poppins’ backpack

This backpack has so much space it is insane. I hadn’t ordered a couple smaller Northface backpacks but none had the capacity I needed. When I travel with my son I only bring a backpack on board so I like having a compartment for him, a spot for my computer and chargers, and some extra pockets for easy-to-reach essentials like headphones. This is like Mary Poppin’s purse. It doesn’t look clownish, yet I fill it up with everything I need and there is space to spare. It’s sharp in the all black especially! Some of the others had very uncomfortable straps that cut in at the collar bone—these are spaced apart. I am on the taller side (5’8”) and have a long torso, so for a smaller framed person this may be a tad large.

Disappointed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My mom bought me this back pack 2.5 years ago when my $15 gas station backpack I had been using for 4+ years wore out. It is a really pretty floral and gray designed Jester Backpack. But this only took 6 months before it began to wear out. The zipper of the main pocket began detaching from the body of the backpack in 2 spots. This ended up creating a hole in the top of my backpack in one of the spots, so I safety pinned it and used the two zippers to come as close at they could to those pins. Now after one year of that, the other side officially has a hole. I knew of NorthFace's lifetime warranty so immediately when the zipper began to pull apart, I looked it up. Turns out that because my mom bought this as a gift and expected it to be good given the price and reputation of northface she did not keep the receipt so I could not do warranty. Even if I skimmed through her emails to find her order confirmation from years ago, I would have to pay for the shipping for them to assess whether or not it was the backpacks fault or mine and I would be without a backpack for 6-8 weeks while they decide if they can fix it for free. As a student who's school is all year round, I could not afford that. Additionally, I knew it was the backpacks fault because I only ever had my 11 inch laptop and one regular sized notebook in it. I am highly disappointed.

Great for a school bag.

I got this backpack for college rather than climbing the ‘north face’ of any mountains so I can’t really attest to how it does for anything more outdoorsy than a sprint across campus trying to not be late to an 8am class. I can say, however, that I don’t think the “spine vent” is more than just an aesthetic choice because it certainly doesn’t keep my back any cooler or prevent sweating. It looks very sharp, the color combination I chose (the gray/teal) is very attractive and it’s a nice shape; not too small or too bulky. The straps came very stiff, but it’s less noticeable when the bag is full. I’m hoping they’ll soften up some more with wear. Having two mesh side pouches is helpful (one holds my water bottle and the other an umbrella). The laptop pocket/sleeve inside is also a nice touch and keeps my computer from getting scratched up by the wire edges of notebooks. Overall I really like this backpack, I think it’s different from the other “big name” backpack you see everyone wearing around campus and was even a litttle cheaper.

Functional, Cute

I ordered the purple/clay color and I think it’s so cute! This backpack is very functional and does what I need it to do. My only complaint is that the main compartment isn’t very spacious.

Trendy great looking backpack

I got this bag for my 7th grade daughter and she loves it! The bag itself is very functional with lots of pockets and great space. We got the color “GREY FLORAL PRINT/ MID GREY” which is a standout with the middle part having the floral design. Absolutely NOT a typical boring looking bag!

Versatile and well made

I liked this little backpack so much, I bought one for my daughter as well. She got the black one and is using it for her laptop, I got the blue and I’m using it as a day pack when I hike.
