Perfect
Alright. So Ive been searching for the perfect warm coat for a solid month. I live in a warm climate and I will be traveling to the snow very soon. After buying a handful of different North Face and two Burton jackets, this one is the keeper and it blew the others out of the water. Heres the thing, I think every North Face jacket I tried on (even ones in the store that I didn't purchase) were all excellent quality and really fit well. Its just such a personal preference as to what you end up buying because every jacket has a different purpose. So, I dont think you can go wrong with any NF purchase. But for what I was looking for, this jacket was the winner by a landslide.
1. The olive color is absolutely perfect. This color isn't offered on the NF website yet either, so it might be a limited edition color or something. But its gorgeous. Im a huge olive fan and know a good shade when I see it. Just perfect. Forget black, get the olive.
2. It is much more insulated than it looks. Since it is not extremely puffy from the outside, the jacket really appears to be quite thin and light. Not the case at all. Im not sure how it will work in -30 weather.. but Im certain that my trip to Big Bear where its 20 is going to be just toasty.
3. The length is perfect for a parka. Not too short, not too long. Just right to cover your booty so will look nice with leggings and boots.
4. Sizing is pretty on point. Im 5'4", but about 5 months pregnant so 135 pounds instead of my usual 125. The size small is very snug because of my belly but I wasn't going to buy a bigger size because it wouldn't fit in the future. I know at 125 the small would be perfect with room for layering.
5. Two way zipper is pretty great. Nice to have the option in case of needing to sit down, drive etc. Side pockets are good too.
6. Did I mention the color is gorgeous?
7. Price is right. This jacket will last you a lifetime. Im pretty sure NF guarantees it?
Since Ive been searching for a while and comparing styles, this jacket seems to be pretty unique. The style, color, quality for the price, fit etc is really quite perfect and I know I will love it for a long time. Really classic. Great buy.

LOVE this coat- couldn't wait to wear it, love it
I was a bit on the fence about purchasing this coat based on the mixed reviews, but I'm actually dumbfounded people didn't simply love it. For starters, the color is fantastic. My computer made it look army green/brown-ish, but it's actually this awesome sage-army green color; it's "warm" rather than super "earthy" colored. Then, some complained about the stiffness. It is not a soft & gooey coat, but I really like the stiffness as it makes it seem nicer/more finished than a regular outdoor jacket. Finally, the heaviness is just right. It does have an inner layer, but it's thin. This coat is also not big & boxy-- it has a nice, trim fit, without being tight. I live in Tahoe & this is the perfect piece to dress up a simple mountain outfit & yet keep me warm.

a hit out of the parka
I order this coat even though some of the reviews said they didn't like the coat. I wanted bulk free and that was a deal breaker for me. I wanted something to keep me warm, and able to jump into my car without feeling like I have to readjust because of so much bulk. Its wintertime here in Seattle and this coat fits the bill. The zipper below allows you to unzip, while seated in the car. I also love the zipper in the sleeve (don't worry, only you know that's there) I throw in my cash, I.D., debit card,in the sleeve of my coat, jump in the car for a quick run into the grocery store. I love the color and the fit. The color is lighter than in picture.

Tough zipper, runs large
This coat is not great for petite people (I'm 5'2")--the sleeves are too long and the body of the coat is pretty big. I have a lot of North Face products and ordered my usual size small and was surprised by how large this item runs.
The zipper is SO hard to line up. This is the main reason that I returned the coat.
Pros: The color (taupe/green) is a nice dark army green. The heatseeker insulation is warm enough that I didn't need to layer in order to stay warm (it's about 40-60 degrees here--Northern California winter). Because the coat runs big, I definitely could have layered a lightweight jacket underneath.

Perfect!
This jacket was perfect for my recent trip to Seattle. I was looking for a coat that was waterproof, not too bulky, and warm, and this jacket satisfied all those requirements. Before purchasing this jacket, I read a lot of reviews and tried several other coats. This coat was perfect for rainy 40-50 degree-weather. It is lightly lined so it fit nicely over a sweater without restricting my range of motion. I purchased my regular size large. Overall, I'm so happy that I returned the three previous jackets I purchased and decided on this one. It is a stylish and functional coat.

Practical, comfortable, and classic
This jacket is so warm and comfortable. I was looking for a new winter jacket that was waterproof and warm. The longer length covers the backs of my legs and helps with the wind chill. The sizing is perfect. I did not need to order up or down. I’m 5’4” 130lbs and I got a small. I can still fit a sweater underneath it. Its a great jacket!
