Hurricane Ampsole Gaila Sandal (Women)

These look clunkier and somewhat less attractive in person, more like hiking shoes than sporty heeled sandals I was hoping I could wear with a skirt. That being said, the footbed is extremely supportive and comfortable. The straps are all adjustable, the front straps are a bit too long and hang off the edge of the upper, even without being tightened. If you have narrow feet, you may find if you have to tighten them that the strap ends will stick out way too far. (Mine are wide so it works okay, but still wish the straps were slightly shorter.) The adjustment buckle near the ankle covers both the instep and back heel. I was afraid they might not work because I have a very narrow heel bone and a very high instep, but it seems I can loosen them enough for the instep to be comfortable without the heel slipping. Canvas fabric feels a bit rough but so far I have not had any sore spots from rubbing. There are some rough spots on the rubber of the footbed itself, from the teva logo and other decorative elements that leave little bumps that rub against the bottom of your foot. Expecting some break-in time, which I don't love, but ultimately I think they will be comfortable enough for me to keep and use.

These are terrific for anyone who has feet just a little wider than average. Teva is usually great for me and I’m so excited they came out with a sandal with a platform. They are definitely a in between sport and fun. Flattering and sturdy. I bought in two colors. I only do that when the shoe is just perfect. I can’t wait to see what they come out with next! Enjoy!

Like another review mentioned-- was hoping these would feel a bit more sleek than they ended up. They look good with wide pants but with shorts or skirts they definitely feel kind of cumbersome. The velcro on the top looks fine at the standard width, but if you tighten the straps at all they stick out to the sides awkwardly. These are my first Tevas and the sizing was a surprise-- the description says to size down on a half size but I had to return my initial purchase as my toes hung over the front. Some friends have shared similar issues. Will say - these are incredibly comfy (tbh they feel like I'm walking on a mattress despite being super light) and I do think they're pretty cool and unique when styled with the right outfit, just a few unexpected quirks upon purchase and wear.
