Voluminous Curls 1.5-Inch Interchangeable Clip Barrel Curling Iron

Ok, let me start off by saying: I’m not a fan of the tight, unbrushed curling iron-curl look. I left that back in my 10-year old, holiday piano recital days. That being said, if you have thick, already wavy (and perhaps kinda fluffy) hair like mine, the curls might not hold too well if you stick to the medium/3 setting. But that’s fine with me. I normally use a blow drying brush (the drybar one) and while that one is definitely faster than a traditional hair dryer and round brush (for someone lacking skill like me), assuming my hair has halfway dried before then… sometimes I’m just too tired after showering before bed to wait and use that. So this right here is my back up for days like that. I wake up with frizzy, fluffy, air dried hair, and 15-20 minutes (not an exaggeration - once I did it in 8 minutes but it wasn’t ideal, missed some in the back) before a zoom call, I roughly go through, brush it out, and bam. It’s like I blow dried my hair. For reference, the drybar blow dry brush usually takes me about 30-40 minutes. A straightening iron is almost an hour (at 400). And this one also makes my hair super super shiny and on top of that, the results look natural in the cliche “I woke up like (someone who looks put together).” One complaint though (although it is a hot tool, so idk, won’t take off any stars)- after I use this and shower, my hair feels… stiff. Squeaky. Kind of dry. Started happening the first time I used it. I use heat protection and a somewhat thin leave in conditioner spray but I’m starting to think I’ll have to take out the big guns and start doing hair masks. **This review is for the Convertible Iron Base, Polished Curls attachment, Cascading Waves attachment, Voluminous Curls Attachment, and the Tousled Curls Attachment**: I can’t explain HOW excited I was for this iron and attachments. I had decided to splurge on a luxury curling iron system to try and streamline my hair appliances and had heard such good things about this system. I love my T3 hair dryer and felt confident in the brand but was so severely disappointed. I did not purchase a trio, I decided to pick attachments out separately as I decided to pick a few more out the day after my initial purchase due to wanting to take advantage of the sale prices, and when each arrived I would rush to try it out only to find that NONE of them would hold a curl in my hair for more than a half hour. At first I thought it was just the largest size barrel being the problem but I soon found out it was the same for all of them! I tried with hairspray, without, with gel, etc..I would work with each one for a few days in different ways to see if I could get it to hold without any success. 5 minutes after curling I would notice the curls quickly dropping until an hour later my head looked like I had flat ironed it! I have never experienced that to that degree with any other iron in my life and I am quite experienced with curling irons, including other luxury brands. I literally have an old Conair iron from when I was a teenager that holds curl better than this! My hair is fine but there is a good amount of it and it is not chemically processed, but it is naturally wavy-curly and usually has semi-decent success clinging to a more curled shape naturally and good success if I use products. Not with the T3. Such a disaster. I was so sad because this curling iron system is absolutely beautiful, made solidly and made my hair so soft and shiny but I could use it as more of a shine enhancing flat iron than I could as a curling iron. I don’t know what it is about this iron that repels holding a curl in my hair. I felt this review needed to be written though because all I seem to see is positive reviews and I know I can’t be the only fine haired person that has had this issue before so I would be wary if your hair is hard to curl, because I wouldn’t even classify mine as that and it sure was with this! Sadly all the iron parts are being returned and I will take my business elsewhere. Loved the idea of this interchangeable system, but something does not make this compatible with hair like mine.
