preppie redux
I chased someone down on the street who was wearing these shoes because I thought they were so cute! I was never preppie, even back in the day, but these metallic Docksiders have just the right amount of irony for my taste.
Plus, they look and feel like much more expensive Todd's (which now make a knock off version of the original Sperry, funny). Super comfortable, look cute with jeans, at the beach, or with a mini when walking around the city.
I recommend getting them a half size smaller, they run a tiny bit big. As usual, I feel more comfortable ordering most things from Nordstrom's in case there's anything defective down the line, I know I can call them.

Nothing “authentic” about it
What’s going on at Sperry? I’ve noticed a decline in quality over recent years. The materials, quality and fit are all off from the “authentic” shoe of yesteryear. The materials on this shoe feel rubbery and the length is a smidge short. I don’t comment on width too often because my feet are on the narrow side, but these looked minnie mouse wide on me. It would be great if Sperry had maintained their quality standards since my first pair of topsiders in high school, but…no.
I have pair of a different Sperry style I purchased a couple of years ago. They were uncomfortable out of the box…short in the toe and rough canvas…but thought they’d break in. They didn’t….but my feet did, and I had to make a band aid run. I never wore them again. Lesson learned. It’s a shame because they’re cute. I’m not doing this again.

Runs smaller than they used to
I last purchased the Authentic Original Sperrys back in 2012. I got a size 7.5M, a half size smaller than I normally wear, because they used to run a little large. After four years, my old pair was pretty worn out so I decided to buy the same size online. However, the new Sperrys either run very narrow or are now true to size, because the new pair were way too narrow for me. I lined it up against my old pair and the soles match up perfectly, so I'm guessing the leather upper is now made smaller than before. Very disappointed that I will have to return them. They're still a great pair of shoes, though, so I'd recommend going a store to try them on in person to make sure you get the right fit

What happened?
Sperry used to to be a quality, reliable brand. This is not the original top sider. The fit is way off, the leather is cheap, and they lined with some sort of cotton/muslin material. Not at all the same as my old pair. Returning.

Wide Feet
I have wide feet so finding comfortable shoes is always difficult. These shoes in wide fit perfectly; my last pair of sperrys were too narrow and created sores. These fit like a dream! I just wish the plaid lining covered the entire inside of the shoe. It sometimes flaps up because it only covers about halfway.

Shoe Too Tight & Too Small
I'M A SIZE 8M IN SHOE SIZE.. I GOT MY NEW SPERRYS, I HAD BEEN WAITING FOR THEM AND ONCE I TRIED THEM ON I COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EYES THEY WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE.. THEY WERE SO TIGHT, NARROW, I MADE SURE THAT THEY WERE SIZE 8M NOT A SIZE SMALLER BCUZ IT FELT AS IF MY BIG TOE WAS ABOUT TO BUST OUT. I'M MAKING THE 150 MILE TRIP TO THE NEAREST NOTDSTROM TO SEE. IF I CAN FIND ANOTHER PAIR..

Too narrow
Very disappointing. The shoe looks great, but ... it doesn't fit! I've been buying and loving my Sperry's for many years and I can always count on them being true to size and very comfortable. I bought my usual size in the Authentic Original Boat Shoe, and it was too narrow. Sizing up would have made them too long. I had to return these.
