Sorin Hooded Waterproof Down Parka

Love the comfort, easy warmth/insulation, & waterproofing features of this high end Parka. I typically wear a size medium for Veilance jackets (Monitor Down & Altus Down alike) and chose a Medium size for the Sorin as well. The sleeves of the Small Size Sorin were a little too short & the tighter fit would limit layering options & compromise warmth. On colder outings (20°F or below) the generous boxy design/fit of the Medium Sorin easily accommodates layering with the Veilance MIONN (or more). Yes the hood adjustability feels unresolved & no I’m not at all sure what the internal elasticized collar adjustments actually do nor how they impact the experience. The website also states “Centre-front secures with hidden Cobrax snaps for a clean, low-profile finish”; yet the Cobrax snaps are nowhere to be found. For a high end price tag that the Sorin is demanding the unresolved & misleading design/descriptions should not be happening -otherwise I would’ve given a Five Star Rating. I wear a wool cap topped with a Veilance Bucket Hat. The shape of the Bucket hat helps secure the hood (the hood itself is generously deep allowing my face to be warm within the recess ) even against a strong head on wind. Overall Love the design & warmth but had to work to find options that keep the hood in place.

I purchased this jacket as an outer layer for commuting on cold winter days as well as for weekend outings. I really like the Dark Cocoon color, and overall I’m very satisfied with it—the jacket is warm, minimal in design, and feels well thought out. That said, I think sizing requires careful consideration. I own an Arc’teryx Beta Insulated Jacket in size L, which I intentionally bought a bit larger to allow for layering. In contrast, the Sorin Down Jacket fits me perfectly in size S. I found size M to be too large, making the silhouette look slightly bulky and less refined. For reference, I’m 5’8” (174 cm) and 180 lbs (82kg). Because the down quality is excellent and the jacket is generously insulated, there’s no real need to size up for layering in most situations (unless you’re dealing with extreme cold like Alaska). For that reason, I ultimately chose size S and am very happy with the fit. Within the first week of wearing it, I received multiple unsolicited compliments, with people asking where the jacket was from.

I'm 5'9" 185 lbs and the Medium size fits me perfectly; I was a little concerned sizing wise based on previous comments, but followed the sizing guide and ordered the jacket in the Rune color. I walk to work every day, rain, snow, wind or shine and thus far, this jacket performs very well given its lightweight feel.
