Nordstrom sent me one that was used!
Really Nordstrom! I know this is a First-World problem and my review is on Nordstrom's service, not Smeg, just to be clear.
I guess they don't check items people return, but rather just tape them up and send them off to the next fool. I was so excited to open my package after working my tail off all weekend-long to afford this kettle, tired as a dog, opened the package... and it was used! Fingerprints all over the chrome parts and months of hard water stains in the bottom with streaked oily sides where someone had tried to clean it! UG! So dissapointed! I've been a fan of Nordstrom's for 30 years (never Macy's!!) and this makes me question my loyalty.

super cute but automatic shutoff fails
This kettle is really cute and the perfect size for my husband and I. The only trouble is that every once in a while the kettle will come to a full boil and not shut off on its own. I’ve let it boil for several minutes to see if it was just delayed, but no such luck. This defeats the purpose of an electric kettle as I want to be able to rely on it to shut off - for safety. We might exchange for a new one and give it another chance.

I really wanted to like this but this was way to small... should have trusted the description when it said mini. Got the fellow kettle instead, which i love and its super sleek and hold more than this one. I had the larger smeg kettle before but it was a bit heavy than I would like.
