Modern Design Lovers Countertop Dream Machine
I not only found a minimalists dream toaster, it looks fabulous on the countertop (and I've NEVER kept a toaster on the counter before). I purchased in basic black after watching and dreaming for years. Thank you Nordstrom for your COVID-19 promotion as a true SMEG sale is a rarity. As for functionality, this is a basic no frills toaster with adjustable browning control as well as a bagel mode and defrost button. It toasts evenly and close to perfection. Bonus is artisan bread slices are accommodated readily. Using at least daily to defrost/toast bagels, english and 1/2 regular muffins, bread and waffles, I've experienced no functionality issues. Cute bonus is the bread pops right out of the toaster without catching - same as the original 50's models. (not for those who keep toasters close to the edge of the counters though ;-) ) This is a heavy toaster so probably not the best solution for those who need to hide it away in a cabinet or drawer. In summary, this SMEG toaster is a workhorse that not only looks great displayed, but makes delicious toasted breads. Highly recommend for those who want esthetics with simplicity of use.

Poor quality
Although I love the aesthetic of this toaster, it really doesn't toast well. It always comes out with one side very dark and the other side barely toasted at all. Also, the springs are so strong that when it pops the toast up the pieces of bread fly onto the counter and occasionally end up on the floor. Planning to return because I feel like at that price point it should be better.

This toaster is amazing. Bought the cream color. Just like all the reviews state it not only looks beautiful on your kitchen counter but it toasts the bread to a perfect toast. Also Smeg makes 2 4-slice toaster, this one is by far the best since you can that a longer piece of bread. Love it.

perfect toaster for many reasons
I love the size because it fits a lot more but also for artisanal bread that is larger, doesn’t normally fit in a smaller toaster. Got the metallic one and I love it, might be easier to clean a colored one? Also, if you are limited counter space, consider getting the smaller one because this is on the larger end, but looks great!
