How to use: To sharpen, simply twist the cap closed. If you hear a click, stop twisting. Line the waterline of your eye for major definition. Let it set to maximize wear time.
Pro tips: This time-saving liner can also be used on the inner rim or as a shadow. Just build up product on your lid and blend out with a powder shadow. Don't forget to let it set.

Great Liner!
I have tried MULTIPLE brands of eyeliners. (MUFE, UD, STILA, Chanel, YSL & various drugstore brands) None of them have been able to accomplish exactly what I want. My requirements: stay on my waterline, do not irritate my sensitive eyes & do not migrate to my contact lenses. It seems that ALL the drugstore brands (Jordana, NYX, Milani, Rimmel) while applying very smooth, they all tend to get on my contact lenses. (drives me NUTS) Other dept store brands just don't stay on my waterlines. I bought the grey, dk brown, green & purple shades from this line. I like that these stay sharp and for the most part stay on my waterline for the majority of the day. (they aren't perfect, but for me nothing has been) The grey isn't a dark charcoal, it's more of a mid-tone grey. The purple is a darker eggplant. It's subtle, it doesn't scream purple, which I like. The green is very pretty emerald. It's the most attention grabbing one. The dark brown is your basic dark brown. Softer than black, which I don't wear on my water lines. Too harsh for my fair skin & light eyes. All in all I really like these and will rebuy.

Great idea but faulty!
I love that this eye liner is self sharpening and stays on all day. However, the mechanics are faulty!!! I had been using it for only 2 weeks when it stopped working. The bottom wouldn't click when turned so no more liner came out. I bought another on good faith and the same thing happened after only a week! So disappointing.

Best Eyeliner for Anyone Using Contact Lenses
I've tried just about EVERY brand of so-called "waterproof" eyeliner for lining the "waterline" - Smashbox's Always Sharp was the first to say it was contact lens friendly and ACTUALLY IS. It's also very reasonably priced. All these gel liners that say they can be used on waterline, and will stay put - either don't agree with contacts or just do not go on at all; I end up with only the outer eye lined. This liner also lasts longer than more costly name brand 'gel liners' that are so soft you constantly have to sharpen them #you'd expect for the price and the reputation of other companies, that at least ONE thing in their description might be true#. Smashbox's Always Sharp is everything it says it is; self-sharpening when you twist the cap on, stays put all day, does NOT effect my contact lens, actually leaves color where you put it. New eyeliners claiming much of the same came out after I bought Always Sharp, I tried them ... decided I'm not trying anything else. Smashbox Always Sharp will always be my eyeliner now.

Try the French Blue color!
The French Blue is a perfect liner for those of us who feel like black is too harsh but brown can be either a bit muddy or not enough definition.
The blue is deep enough to be almost black looking unless it's in the direct sunlight and it defines well. It also visually brightens the entire eye area and is pretty much universally flattering.
As for the liner's performance, it's long lasting, won't transfer even on lids that are droopy or mature and doesn't run when you use it in the waterline.
The self sharpening detail to this pencil means that every time you use it, literally, it's sharp and ready to define perfectly. There's no mess and it's pretty much fail-proof.
Bottom line: Long lasting, great texture and coverage, always sharp and the French Blue color is a perfect compromise between black and brown or charcoal.

So sad!
I received this liner as part of a gift and I love it! I love how it goes on, I love how it doesn't smudge, I love everything about how it works except 2 big deal breakers: There was very little liner in the pencil, and the self-sharpener kept breaking the tip off so it wasn't sharp every time. I have only gotten a handful of uses out of it because of this combination of issues and their is now literally nothing left in the pencil. Definitely not worth the $20 it's listed for for the number of uses I got out of it. This makes me so sad because I would have totally repurchased just based on liner quality.

Smashbox pencil
I have tried many eyeliner pencils and never happy. Then I found smashbox and now own three colors; burgundy, gray and navy. They go on smoothly. Can make thin or thicker line. Great for older crinkly eyelids. Love the way to use self sharpener. Always great tip and easy application.

Favorite Brown
I have these liners in many colors now. They are an essential part of my routine. I waited for this one to come back in stock,
and was horrified when the tip broke off the first time I used it.
But, I think it was just too hot in the mail. Since it cooled a bit, it has been fine. Penny Lane is a wonderful, softer brown that
looks great on my older, blue eye. I don't do the black and dark any more.
