Skin Caviar Essence-in-Foundation

Ok, this is LP, So the basic formula is nice— good medium to light coverage, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen in their line before. BUT—there are problems. First, the puff is WAAAAY too small for the cushion— so it’s very, VERY messy. Second, the formula itself doesn’t STICK— I have tried it as a standalone and as a fill in for when I need touch ups for the full coverage foundation, and it just doesn’t last. Disappears in a few hours, regardless of weather. You have to reapply, and the dang container is HUGE, so carrying it around is very unwieldy (forget about working it into your tiny TSA allotment). Finally, I can only speak about the shade I got: Porcelain Blush. It’s much darker than the Concealer Foundation’s shade of the same name. They should rename it, or adjust. I’ll tell ya. This is my first foray into cushion foundation. It will probably be my last…and frankly, if others are this inconvenient, I see this fad going the way of the Pet Rock.

This is my absolute all time favorite foundation and I was devastated when they stopped making it. Yes the price is high but I’ve wasted so much money on other foundations that failed to live up to their claims. This is the most skin like perfecting product on the market. So happy they brought it back, but they did not bring back my winter color satin nude and the stores don't know which color is closest to it. I bought Mocha for summer. This makeup gives a dewy look and feel and most important it doesn't settle in lines. It has great coverage, you can build without it looking heavy and caked on. Worth every penny! I wish they did samples like thy did when it was first introduced so I could try it before buying.

I purchased this directly from the La Prairie website, but since there is not a place to leave reviews on their website and since there is not much reviews showing a swatch of the darkest shade, I am leaving the review here. In the pictures you will see that I swatched it (w-50 mocha) near other foundations including the La Prairie concealer foundation in NW 60. The colors are vastly different. My neck is the same color as my arm, however my face matches the concealer foundation better. Usually, when I buy a foundation I have to choose if I am going to match my neck or face. This foundation, the mocha color matches my neck. I found applying it with a sponge works best. Because it has sunscreen in it, I do get a white cast while applying it, but that goes away within 1 minute. The finish is somewhat blurring and last about 7-8 hours. I am giving it 4 stars because the shade range needs to be expanded. Also, because of the sunscreen and because I can feel it on my face throughout the day. If you are trying to decide between the liquid and the cushion one, I would go with the liquid one! Some days, I leave my house at 5am and do not get back until 11pm and it stays put with a primer underneath and powder on top! Plus, I do not feel like I am wearing foundation with the liquid.
