On one hand, this shirt is soft, light, comfortable, true to size, and 100% cotton, which is ridiculously hard to find in maternity clothes (somehow even harder now, 4 years after my first). In that sense it ticks all the boxes. However I don’t love the cut and have also demoted it to schlubby wear around the house or for errands. You can kind of tell on the model that the sides are cut really high — even at 12 or 14 weeks when I needed the space but hadn’t yet popped and wasn’t that big the sides were really high. As in, shows your skin unless you’re wearing bottoms with fabric over your bump. Now at 23 weeks I’m starting to wonder if the front will also show my skin toward the end. I don’t understand the very exaggerated and borderline comical cut of the shirt, like a long scallop tunic in the front and back — maybe to avoid ruching (which yuck, I get)? It’s as unattractive as it is bizarre; I don’t love two+ inches of skin peeking out, even around my house. So that’s a bummer. (For size reference, I’m 5’5” 145lbs pre-pregnancy and 160lbs at 23 weeks; medium fits true to size.) Would love love love more 100% cotton tshirts with less drastic cuts — should be able to get the drapey look and feel without exposing your midsection. Also, the shirt is light blue (as it visually appears here and is labeled on the brand’s website; must be a typo here).
