What it is: An everyday ultra-light, oil-free sun protection lotion for the face that controls excess sebum and gives skin a matte appearance.

What it does: It guards against daily environmental aggressors while promoting the natural beauty of skin by protecting against the three major causes of cell damage—UV rays, oxidation and over-production of sebum. Water-resistant for up to 40 minutes, this lotion contains paeonia albiflora root extract to help reduce the look of visible pores and scutellaria baicalensis extract to promote the appearance of youthful-looking skin.
How to use: Apply a generous amount evenly to face prior to sun exposure. It easily removes with a daily cleanser.

NO new wrinkles, acne or white face!
It's like wearing a straw hat- but better! ZINC & TITANIAM DIOXIDE are the main ingredients and non-chemical. These do not break down nearly as fast as chemical sunscreens! Protection that lasts. Best for all skin types to apply to freshly washed face (Esp. if you have dry skin be sure to.splash face with water or rosewater and pat dry, then apply helps skin to pull in the sunscreen like a sponge). These drops mix great with moisturizer apply to face, hands, neck, chest or any exposed body part. Appears liquid white directly out of the small bottle (concentrated drops) but when applied with or without moisturizer as noted above it soaks into skin as you gently work it into the skin leaves no white residual, virtually matte and no breakouts!!. Small bottle powerful drops believe me I am a redhead and do not burn after hours with this! I have been a sunscreen queen for years.

Ghostly
I went to the Shiseido counter at my local department store. They were out of the Urban Environment Oil Free Protector SPF42 for the face, but they had some samples so they gave me a few. I am African American with the complexion of Brandy Norwood and when I put it on I looked like Casper the friendly ghost. No amount of rubbing it in helped, it dried with a white film. I was desperately hoping this sun protection would work out because I'm in need of one that is oil free. Lately, I have breaks outs and none of the other regular SPF's have worked in trying to control this problem. I thought this would have been perfect since I also use the Pureness line and it has worked well for me. Luckily, I found an oil free moisturizer with SPF from Neutrogena that does not make me look like a ghost. Still love my Shiseido Pureness Deep cleansing foam, Balancing Softener and the mattifying oil free lotion. They are very good for oil control.

Whitened (oxidized)
The consistency is fitting for my normal skin especially since spring-summer is approaching but I wish it did not whiten. After applying, my skin feels soft and non-greasy but it oxidized leaving a whitening effect. I'm pale already so the ghostly appearance was not necessary. Oh if only there was no oxidation then this would be fitting for the warmer weather.

no oily feelings at all
This is the 4th or 5th bottle I have used. Having tried many brands, this one is the only one that doesn't make my face oily. After applying it, you don't even feel it because it is so light thin and smooth. Small bottle lasts a long time. Perfect for daily facial sun screen before make up.

very lightweight...never greasy or chalky
I don't write many reviews; only when I believe something is truly worth the price do I take the time to share. I use retinol, so spf is a must everyday, and I used the entire bottle..it's rare for me to finish anything as it usually goes under the sink. Anyway, this is very lightweight and blends easily. I would equate the consistency to more of a serum and not nearly as thick as other spf lotions. This feels like a veil on your skin not heavy or greasy at all!!! I have others that are oil free and they still leave me with a oil-slick, greasy sheen, but this product leaves you moisturized, and looking brighter. I have medium skin and have not noticed any chalkiness. I will say, because of the consistency it will run when you sweat, so I wear a different formulation if I go running or to the gym. Either way, still give this 5 stars. Definitely will purchase the sport version next time.

Married to Shiseido
I've tried so many different products over the years thinking that I'll finally find The One, but I keep coming back to Shiseido. This is an effective sunscreen that does not go on white or turn yellow after a few hours. I use this instead of foundation in the summer, and my skin retains a matte appearance even in hot humid weather.
