Shimmering Pleated A-Line 3/4 Sleeve Gown

While I love the dress and it met all the criteria for the dress I was looking for - elegant, classy, timeless, beautiful and simple silhouette, higher neck, 3/4 sleeves - it does not look good in a size 18. It is indeed very well made but the lack of stretch in fabric in the top makes it tight and the neckline feels scratchy and confined. Being fully lined, it felt immediately hot, constricting and uncomfortable. It was also very heavy which surprised me and made it feel uncomfortable. The weight of any beaded or embellished gown automatically ruled out anything like that. I wish dresses came with weight of gowns listed so I could use that as a comparison as well when I consider design elements as I would not have ordered it knowing how heavy it is. I definitely need something much lighter. It was also much too long and had I been able to keep it, I would have had to have it shortened and possibly some layers of tulle removed. It’s a beautiful gown and I had fallen in love with it and just knew I had found THE gown for my son’s black tie wedding and I was so disappointed that I had to return it as I knew I would not be able to wear it for the entire wedding and festivities. It just was not comfortable for me. I honestly wish Mac Duggal (and all designers) would consider larger women in their design and that we often don’t want to expose arms, cleavage or backs and don’t want thigh high slits. And to have all that wrapped in an elegant gown that is formal wedding worthy seems to be elusive and impossible to find. I’ve been looking for almost a year now and there really aren’t that many gowns to choose from that provide more coverage, are simple and elegant, have some stretch without accenting curves we want to hide, and look good on a fuller figured woman. So I have no idea what I’ll be able to find by the February 2023 wedding. I know if I were a size 0-10 any of these gowns would look amazing. That’s just not so for people like me….and that makes me very sad. And, I just cannot order any gown online - I have to try it on and that is almost impossible where I live as there are no stores that carry dresses in my size. Very disappointed that what looked to be the perfect gown for me just wasn’t. I absolutely hated having to return it.
