Modern Classic at a Great Price
I just ordered a pair of these during a holiday preview sale at a REALLY good price and they were just delivered today. I am normally a 9-9.5 so I ordered a 9.5. They are a little too big, but unfortunately size 9 in black isn't currently available. I don't want to return these in the hopes that the 9s come back in stock (and likely at a higher price), but with a pair of thick socks (or even two on really cold days) these should work fine. It's not too tight in the calf for me and is loose around the ankle. I'm 5'10 and the height is perfect. I probably should have noticed in the pictures, but the toe is fairly square - which I like - it just thought it looked rounder in the photos. If you're looking for a pair of knee-high black boots that don't have high heels, definitely consider these!

Felt cheap and it bunches up at the ankle which makes it hard to zip. Also to tight around my calf to go up further.

tall boots!
I bought the black/whiskey boots. They’re gorgeous, very comfortable despite the 1/2 zipper (I don’t see any advantage to this, all boots should have a full zipper for ease of wearing), heel height is perfect, slightly square toe box ensures no squishing of toes. Skinny in the calf for sure, so someone with thick calves will not be able to wear these, particularly with the zipper not going all the way to the top. However, these are definitely tall! I’m 5’4, leggy, the top of the boot on the side where it’s higher hits above my knee, making it slightly uncomfortable when sitting or flexing the knee. I’m not sure yet if I’ll keep them or return. veryyyyy tight
I have pretty slim calves but these barely fit putting them on. The material was also more slouchy so didn’t have that structured look. Such a shame since I generally love Sam Edelman shoes but will definitely need to return these.

Shaft doesn't fit well
I was so excited to get these boots on sale. The actual shoe part fits true to size and I liked the toe box shape. The ankle was really bunchy and wide, contrasted with the shaft of the boot which was really tight. I also didn't like how the zipper only comes halfway up the ankle and makes it look a little bunchy and hangs off the inside for a strange silhouette.
