Oil rig workers, known as roughnecks, needed tough, rugged boots to help keep them safe on the job. The men’s Roughneck brings this iconic Red Wing style up to date with rich Black Oil Slick leather, an aggressive Vibram® lug outsole to grip any surface, and Puritan triple-stitch construction with a Goodyear leather welt for long-lasting, resoleable wear.

- Clean using warm water and a brush to remove dirt from footwear. Dry with a cloth. For heavily soiled areas, apply Foam Leather Cleaner with a cloth or brush. Wipe cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow leather to dry.
- Condition by appling a light, even coat of All Natural Boot Oil, Mink Oil, or All Natural Leather Conditioner to leather with fingers, cloth, or sponge. Proper conditioning keeps leather healthy and extends the life of footwear.
- Protect by lightly misting footwear with Leather Protector six to eight inches away from the leather in a sweeping motion. Leather Protector provides a shield against dirt and moisture.

Heritage Boot? Okay. Everyday work boot out in the
How happy am I with the Red Wing roughneck in Brier oil slick leather? These are the second pair of Red Wing boots I have purchased. The first was a pair of iron rangers. That I wore for work outdoors in all kinds of weather on the docks in Rhode Island on Narragansett Bay. One of my favorite pairs of work boots ever. The roughnecks in Brier oil skin leather were my second pair of Red wings. And after about 3 weeks of everyday wear, about 15 days, in rain and shine the most comfortable and attractive and in regards to the where they have taken in that time durable boots I've ever had. I hear a lot about how tough it is to break in Red wings. I've never had a problem. Someone asked me about these boots the other day and I said in 8 years I have had two pair of Red wings, the iron ranger and the roughneck, I I encourage that person to buy a pair. If they want to have a good everyday all-weather work boot that looks good. Feels good and we'll take care of you.

Not getting better
I thought the break in person would help the pain but it did not. You can’t win them all. I have been rolling the dice on Red Wing boots for years. Sometimes I get lucky and sometimes not with boots that may or may not form to my feet. I have a 11 1/2 EE foot and Red Wings give me little support in conditions other than flat surfaces.

Just a great leather boot. No lining
These are the 4th and 5th pair of Roughnecks I have bought. They are very similar to the old 952, just a leather boot. 3rd pair I should send back for repair as the sole detached form boot.

The greatest footwear I've ever had.
Truly the greatest footwear I've ever owned. I've had my roughnecks for years and they've always been reliable. I wear these simply for walking, fashion, and heavy duty yard work. But the thing about me is that I am an insanely intense and harsh walker. I destroy all shoes simply from walking. I dig holes in my insoles where my big toe lies, and in the heels of my shoes. These boots have survived my rigid walking for years in end. Incredible investment.
