What it is: A smart styler that predicts your hair's needs.

How to use: Use on dry hair. Section hair into 1-inch sections. Ensure that the styler is as close to the root as possible before closing the plates. Gently move toward the tip of the section in one simple gliding motion. Repeat the process with each section of hair, gliding once from roots to ends.

AMAZING!!!
Ok, I’ve been wanting a GHD straightener for years and I finally got this one! Let me tell you, it’s THE BEST!! I’ve been using a Babyliss straightener for years and my hair would always smell like burnt. Not with GHD!!
I’m amazed at how well it works! I only need to go once through and my hair is straight and it doesn’t smell like burnt! My hair is super shiny and I only have to straighten it once, after I wash my hair because it stays perfectly straight after that until I have to wash it again! Before, with my old Babyliss I had to straighten my hair almost every day(I have curly hair). I’m just blown away!!
If you’re thinking of buying a GHD platinum+ go for it!! It’s worth every penny!!

does not work for me
I have fine hair, but a lot of it. And it has gotten wavier and curlier over the years. I now need to straighten it to make it look presentable. I purchased this flat iron at the Nordstrom anniversary sale about two years ago. Finally took it out of the box about six months ago (I am a busy stay at home mom and straightening my hair was not a priority). I can only straighten about a 1 inch width of hair at a time. This straightener is too time consuming and not efficient or effective. I was disappointed in this flat iron as it does not make even contact across the plates. So, when I run it through my hair, it literally can only do a 1 inch wide section at a time. This is by far the worst straightener I've ever owned. Please see the attached picture.

No go. Going straight back (pun intended)
Tl;dr: doesn’t get very hot, not impressed. Will be returning.
I’ve heard nothing but Amazing things about GHD. I’ve had a chi for years and years and it straightens really well but doesn’t curl. I’ve used other flat irons that curl my hair well and was looking to get one. I travel a ton so was looking to buy a flat iron that can do both and landed on this one on the N sale. For background - I have fine, mildly wavy, non damaged hair. It did OKAY to straighten my hair (but most tools can do that and I have no trouble). I wouldn’t say it was super sleek and straight though and was not a one pass. Curling fell flat for me - literally (another pun intended)! My curls (where it would actually create a curl) fell within an hour or two. This iron only has one heat setting and is supposed to be smart and detect how to adjust heat but my hair would be almost cool
To the touch coming right out. I do not think it gets hot enough and do not recommend for the price. Will be returning.

LOVE IT!!!!
OBSESSED with this styler, mostly because it completely heats up in 10~15 seconds and it turns off by itself after 30minutes!!! (I can sometimes be forgetful) My natural hair color is black and I currently have over processed platinum blonde hair. I went complete blonde in less than 3 months so my hair is pretty damaged and the ends are extremely dry. However, this styler glides down my hair smoothly and leaves my dry hair feeling silky smooth and looking shiny/healthy! One thing I hated about my other straighteners was how my hair would always get caught on the metal plate, but I haven't experienced this issue with this styler!!!

great flat iron
I was skeptical when buying this because of all the bad reviews I saw. I heard the gold was better and to splurge on the platinum was a waste. I heard this one stopped working and the power button turned red after so long and ghd wouldn’t do anything about it after a year. Well I must say the extra 50 bucks to get the higher quality plates to not damage your hair is worth it. Obviously I can’t compare cause I didn’t get the gold but if it does what it claims over the gold 50 dollars more isn’t that big of a deal. As for it stopping working at a year... the thing comes with a 3 year warranty so I’m not sure what the other reviews are talking about. Maybe people aren’t buying this from a reputable retailer. I’ve dealt with ghd customer service and they were more than happy to take care of any issue they know they have a great product and will back it. This flat iron is awesome all in all. I had no complaints with my classic til now. I don’t know what took me so long to upgrade. I now have curly hair after chemo and it’s annoying to deal with. I can use this flat iron after going to sleep with a wet head and waking with a mop in the morning and it gets my hair stick straight with ease. Love it. Don’t hesitate it’s worth the price.

I love my ghd flat iron!
I realized that I have been using my Babyliss flat iron for 10 years - yikes! Maybe that's why my ends are all fried and crazy looking?! My husband bought me a ghd blow dryer a few years back, and that thing has tons of power and works quickly on my super thick hair, so I figured that their flat iron is probably just as good. I believe that you get what you pay for, so while I don't love the idea of a $250 flat iron, I feel that it's worth it. It doesn't bother me that there are no heat settings, I have thick, coarse hair so whatever it's on my hair can most likely withstand. (not sure how I would feel about it if I had fine hair) It really does make your hair look shiny and silky smooth. I've had it for less than a week so I can't comment on how long it lasts, but so far, so good! The beauty of Nordstrom is you can always return it if it doesn't work out, so I say give it a try :)
