What it is: An eau de toilette inspired by fig trees in the heat of the summer in Greece.
Fragrance story: Philosykos is an ode to the entire fig tree: the green freshness of the leaves, the milky flavor of the figs and the density of the white wood. The memory of a Greek summer at Mount Pelion where, to get to the sea, there was a natural grove of wild sun-soaked fig trees to cross. The iconic oval label is deeply rooted in Diptyque's story. The thread of inspiration runs from ancient Rome to the fabric designs created during the early days of the Diptyque adventure.

Lovely
I fell in love with this scent at a Ritz Carlton in Los Angeles. It was their signature scent of the moment. It’s not intrusive, just the right amount that won’t bother the folks around you if they’re not into perfume, and it’s a lovely earthy scent without being too floral or woody or sweet. Just an interesting, mild botanical scent. I don’t love the slightly powdery finish, as it reads a bit elderly, but it dissipates. The scent doesn’t last long, which I prefer in a perfume/eau de toilette. I like to spray it on my bed sheets for a spa moment. It’s not “holy grail” worthy (I leave that for Nest Indigo… IFKYK) but it’s a lovely addition to a minimalistic perfume collection. I have 4 and this made the cut. Bottle is gorg.

Disappointing Nordstrom service
This review is NOT about the product, but about Nordstrom’s service. I bought this product online, with a pick-up at the nearest Nordstrom store. At the time of the order, it was promised to be ready for pick-up the next day. However, it wasn’t ready - neither the next day, nor the day after. It was a time-sensitive matter for me as this eau de toilette was bought as a birthday present, so Nordstrom completely messed up everything for me by failing to keep up with their own promised delivery schedule. I was willing to purchase it once again in the store, as I really needed it that evening, but it turned out their stores never carry those products in smaller (1.7 oz) sizes, only the biggest ones. The lady in the fragrances department wasn’t too eager to try and help me out either. I had to ask her several times to check in their database if any of the other stores in the area could possibly have the scent and the size I needed, which she finally did reluctantly, but none of them had ANY Diptyque scents in 1.7 oz sizes. The result is, I had to drive at rush hour, at the very last moment, to the Diptyque store miles away to buy what I needed.
All I got from Nordstrom was “we’re sorry, can’t help you”. They were even unable to cancel the order, and I have to wait until it is ready for pick-up to return it and get my money back. Well, dear Nordstrom, I’m sorry too, but next time I’ll go shopping somewhere else - with the same prices, but much better service, as yours was rather poor, frustrating and disappointing.

Good for summer
I like the creamy dry down of this scent. It smells quite woody at first, and then develops to reveal a creamy, figgy aroma. Like all Diptyque perfumes, it's unusual and not like anything else on the market. I think it's a good summer scent and probably suitable for a man too.
