'Upena' Flat Sandal (Women)

I ordered these for an upcoming trip to Europe. I wanted comfortable walking sandals that don't look like grandma's slippers. These sandals surely fit the bill! I bought them in the "Gold Leather" which has criss-crossing tan leather straps and one gold leather strap that goes across the toes. I originally ordered the sandals in brown but the gold leather are definitely cuter. If you are a half-size, definitely size up to the next full size. I'm normally a 7.5 and ordered the 8 and they fit perfectly. I can't wait to wear them on vacation.

I always read the reviews before I purchase online and in most cases the reviewers are extremely helpful and I am glad I went with their advice. This time it was a little different. I wish I didn’t go true to size. I wish I went up a size. Most people said that their foot didn’t hang off, but it’s so close to the edge it gives the appearance that my foot is hanging off. It’s in that spot where you could technically get away with it, but going up seems the way to go. Especially bc it runs small by the toe cross section. I read that people said it just needs to stretch, but I feel if I went up a size it would fix both issues. I don’t think in my case I can just stretch it. I think it would always rub if I didn’t go up. There are for sure pros with this shoe. The style is adorable. It’s great for shorts to even summer dresses. The base of the shoe is super comfy. (I also got the black and it’s a nice color.) I am going to try again and order a size up. There are enough pros to try again. I’ll let everyone know on the next review if that works.

I purchased a pair of OluKai Upena sandals last year and wore them almost everyday for eight months even though I had many other sandals to choose from in my closet. They are extremely comfortable, lightweight, and attractive making them easy to go between office casual to long walks at the beach. I walk between 2-4 miles almost everyday and they have held up extremely well, even getting completely drenched on several occasions. The Upena sandals are airy with the feel of a flip flop, more foot support, and a back strap that keeps them in place while walking both which reduce stress on the back that often comes from traditional flat sandals. The crisscross strap is not only supportive but also very attractive. They look great with a everything including a sundress, skirts of different lengths, shorts, and summer pants. I loved them so much that I purchased a replacement pair for my original black pair that are wearing slightly on the footbed and a silver pair to serve as a lighter-colored neutral. I am between a 9-10 and purchased a 9 which was a little tight initially but the supple leather stretched just enough for a perfect within a couple of weeks. They did not overstretch, even with extensive wear. I absolutely love then sandals.

I bought this sandal for a tropical getaway and they were perfect. I wore them straight out of the box with no blisters or rubbing and they were super comfortable for walking all day. The leather seemed to stretch out over the few weeks that I was wearing them almost daily, but no more than I would expect. Highly recommend!
