Wool and cotton, handwoven into a rug of large alternating triangles — ivory raised and ribbed, charcoal recessed and flat. Within each ivory section runs a second set of parallel ribs, fine enough to read only at close range. A striped border in the same two tones runs top and bottom, finished with twisted tassels. The charcoal sits lower than the ivory, which is where grit settles — and the dark tone is exactly where it shows least. The ivory stands above the traffic and stays cleaner for it. Tassels are the part that tangles; comb them straight by hand rather than brushing at them.
