True to size; reliable NYDJ fit. I will ask Nordstrom to shorten for me (5'5") to wear with low heels and rubber soled shoes. The side seams do not have "flat fell" double stitching, so they look like leggings/jeggings, especially when worn with a long top, like the NYDJ shirts. Fabric has more stretch than Paige jeans, less than Eileen Fisher jeans. Fabric is heavier than Fisher - - more protection and perhaps more durability. I have been wearing the Barbara in blue denim for two months and have washed them 10-12 times without noticeable loss of color. Before hemming, wash in hottest water, and dry on hot. If you have them shortened at Nordstrom, specify whether you want a flat fell (double stitched) hem like jeans, or a turned under hem like pants.

The fit on these is great for those of us who have a little more hip and thigh and don't necessarily like a skin tight fitting jean.

I returned these jeans after trying them in two different sizes. They were shorter in the crotch than my other NYDJs, yet they were at least three inches longer in the leg. These were the black pair. I bought the same style in the "sinclair" color and they fit just fine. The black fabric was very nice looking. I would have loved it in a trouser style jean.

Thankfully the suggestion of ordering one size down is accurate. This is comfortable and not tight feeling. It has a slimming look through the leg and is a good bootcut opening. The technology of slimming and shaping is effective. I bought a petite but it's still too long for me so will have to shorten the length anyway. But the success of this style makes me want to look at more of its offerings.

First of all, I have to begin this review by saying that these jeans are not only "Not My Daughter's Jeans," but "Not My Granddaughter's Jeans" as well. I am 79 years old and we all wear NMDJs. I wasn't able to get the size and style I wanted in the store, but the sales person assisted me by finding them at another store and having them shipped to me. When they arrived I was quite pleased with the fabric. It was softer than some of my jeans and the waist button had been changed to be flatter - not stick out so much as my other styles do. I purchased these jeans in "black," so they will go to the cleaners - at least for a while - to maintain that dark black look. I have several pairs of NMDJs in various styles and colors and they have been through the washing machine and dryer numerous times. They fit great - maybe a bit snug in the stomach area - but my experience has been that they stretch quite a bit so I tend to buy a smaller size. This has worked great for me. I did try them of in another color at the store to make sure the fit was what I had in mind. I will wear these jeans to all ocassions - even at my age. I think they look very acceptable. Whether they are not my "daughter's jeans," or not my "granddaugher's jeans," they are the jeans for me!

NYDJ is consistent on quality, and color. I am missing the traditional bootcut, however. These just don't fell the same -- they taper toward the knee rather than go straight down. Not as flattering as the traditional bootcut, but much more flattering than the mini bootcut.
