Norvan 4 Nivalis Waterproof Running Shoe (Men)

Lots to love about the shoe out of the box, and the gator offers added protection from stuff getting into the shoe without hindering mobility. However, they just doesn't last anywhere near as long as other Arcteryx shoes I own, and apparently that is by design. In less than 200km of use, the sole delaminated in couple areas and the lining on the right heal tore. When I talked to the warranty department they told me that I had exceeded the design life of the shoe by running 15-20km total distance on an outing, and by using the shoes on back to back days. I was informed that the "Norvan 4 Nivalis was specifically developed for winter running in snow and wet conditions", so I had apparently extended the shoe beyond its design parameters. I will admit I was very surprised to hear the narrow limitations on use and durability, and how the terrain has any impact on the durability of the inner lining fabric. From my perspective a 20km run is hardly an extended outing in the world of trail running, and my LD's often take me 30-45kms without issue. Also, im still not sure 'how or why' using the shoe on back-to-back days = failure, is a limitation the design team accepted when they built the most expensive running shoe in the Arcteryx lineup. (none of the design limitations are in the product description on the website by the way). In conclusion - these are very comfy - cool looking shoes... That have all the potential in the world to be great - but they just literally aren't designed to last in the real world.
