Washable Silk Longline Robe

Though neither black nor creamy white would be my first choice for a robe, I know I could dye the white myself to create a more fun color. I was happy to find, when the robe arrived, that it DOES have interior ties. A silk robe is far too slippery to wear with just an outer belt to hold it shut. Speaking of the fabric, this isn't an ultralight habotai, but might reasonably be called a mid-weight plain weave silk. I think you can see darker pj's through the cream color, but it isn't sheer, which I appreciate. Standing at slightly less than 5' 3" tall, I find this robe too long. It is to my ankles, and it dips towards the floor in front where the overlap doesn't always stay neat and straight. I would prefer for it to be a few inches shorter, but I don't think I require hemming for it to be wearable if I'm careful on the stairs. I do often opt for petites--especially in tops as I'm short-waisted--but I'm often right on the borderline between petite and regular and have both in my closet. Most silk is actually safe to wash, but one should handle the wet fabric carefully as it is weaker wet than dry. A mesh laundry bag (to provide support to the wet fabric) will extend the life of this garment, as will careful air drying flat (again, for support), not on a hanger which could stress the shoulder area.

I just bought this during the anniversary sale for $129 and even at the normal the price of $189 I think this is a really good deal for SILK! I’m 5’10 and 145 pounds and ordered the SMALL. I was a competitive swimmer growing up so I have slightly larger shoulders and it still works well. The robe has inside ties to keep the robe in place and pockets! It also drapes nicely on the body and will be perfect for during the warmer months when it’s too hot to wear my Barefoot Dreams robe. Just buy it!

Putting this robe on feels like donning luxury; it that nice. It's not baggy nor frumpy like so many robes; in fact, if a simple bath robe can be sexy, this is. The sleeves are a perfect length so they don't get in the way of getting ready in the AM. I've had some that are long enough to knock things over as I reach for something on my vanity. As a petite, I'll have to have it hemmed unless I want it ankle length, but that's typical. I withheld one * for the simple reason that mine came without a sash. So, not a reflection on quality. I chose the black over the white so it doesn't show makeup; even though it's washable, I'd rather not have to wash it more than necessary.
