Horrible Earrings
I bought these earrings for $20, I don't wear earrings often because any prolonged use turns my ears and the jewelry green, and I'm not too flashy, I don't NEED jewelry. But I like to get a pair of cheap gold hoops to have on hand for special occasions. Normally I get a couple pair pack at H&M for like $5. I decided to splurge a LITTLE and grabbed this pair on my way out. Figured I could get a few more wears out of them than what I normally get, but still I wasn't expecting much. They were WAY below my expectation. After one wear, only about an hour after wearing my ears were burning and hurt, they'd have already turned green and so did my ears. Didn't even get all the way trough the event, took them off a little after getting there. Such a waste. I wrapped them and shoved them in my purse for the rest of the event. Threw them in the back of my drawer to clean at some point because I refused to give up on them so easily. Time elapsed, but I grabbed a few decent, but tarnished pieces of jewelry that were very lightly worn, just for another wear to have on hand. I should probably just invest in a good pair of real gold hoops, but I like to be frugal haha. Anyway, going to clean them up in a mixture of baking soda, vinegar and aluminum meant for cheap tarnished jewelry, all the tarnish came off of the other piece EXCEPT this pair. In fact the entire hoop(s) turned a BRIGHT TEAL. They did not look like that prior, I don't know if the mixture brought the worst out of them but they're crazy looking, and the turquoise color isn't coming off. I have some cheap scunci gold bobby pins that look pristine after a couple seconds in the mixture and held up way better at $3 for 50, vs $20 for a pair of these. If your skin reacts to jewelry, for me at least, these were by far the worst pair I've had.
