Traditional Fit Solid Dress Shirt

I have shopped for mens' dress shirts at Nordstrom for about thirty years. I am 6'6" and wear a 17.5/37 size dress shirt. Unfortunately, I've noticed a trend in recent years from shirts cut with proportionally long tails to shirts with tails too short for someone my height. Sleeves are no longer sized inch by inch, but rather '36/37'. And, again unfortunately, for the first time ever, I had to return this last shirt because not only were the tails too short, the neck was so small that I could not button the top button. And that's before I get to the fact that, for a traditional fit shirt, it was too tight around the waist. I wondered whether the size was mismarked. The sales rep indicated that mine is not the first such complaint that he's heard, particularly as to the tails, and that they pass these complaints on to the buyers, but to no avail.
