React Pegasus Trail 4 Gore-Tex^® Waterproof Running Shoe (Women)

I bought these right before my trip to Greece when I discovered it was supposed to rain. I didn’t even have time to break them in. These saved the trip for me! We did a ton of walking (some in the rain) and I had not a blister or irritation. They were THE BEST! Normally I find Nike too narrow for me but I sized up to 8 (which I often do in sneakers) and I had plenty of room as they are wider in the toe bed than most Nike, in my opinion! I love the snugness and warmth of the ankle gaiter. This feature keeps my narrow foot in place. I also really appreciate being able to walk in the rain without drenching my feet. The gortex seems too thin for cold, snowy climates, but breathable for the San Francisco Bay Area or Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately , sizing in the gortex version is much trickier than the regular version. In the non-gortex I’ve been content with a 9.5, which is a half size up from my street shoe size. I have extra room in the toes, but my feet stay in place. Although I need the same size in these, I initially thought I needed a 10 because the toe volume was insufficient. I frequently noticed a pressure on the top of my big toes. I bought a 10 from Nordstrom and it took a while to realize they were just too wide for my narrow foot. The comfortable arch disappeared in the bigger size and my feet were unsteady. I had to return this pair and tolerate the toe pressure in the 9.5. Another issue is that they can be very slippery on certain pavement in the rain. Overall, comfy, extremely versatile shoe, but you may have to choose between space and support.
