Some sections lie flat and close-woven; others rise in dense clustered wool knots, bright against the warmer woven ground. The two constructions share one color but read as entirely different surfaces. A bedroom with little in it — a bed low to the floor, bare walls, the morning quiet still in place. The rug sits beside and beneath the bed, its blocks of texture present underfoot before anything else in the room is noticed. The flat sections and the looped sections meet at clean edges across the floor.
