'Ludo' Sneaker (Men)

Mephisto is my shoe of choice, I own 7 different pairs. My blue Ludos were so comfortable that I bought the tan and brown ones as well. The blue one probably my favorite color and I’ll buy a backup pair. The two-tone sole adds a lot of character to the shoe. Super soft inners and flexible soles. Like all of my Mephistos, there’s no need to break them in — they’re just comfortable out of the box and only get better as they form to your foot. My only minor complaint is they squeak a little bit when I walk but that’s not worth docking a star.

I have many Mephisto shoes including the Ludo but in a different color. So when Nordstrom put these on sale I had to get a second pair and in the dark brown color, which I wanted. Note that Nordstrom's color photo is an exact match for the actual shoes. These fit about one-half size large and are slightly wide so your feet feel comfortable even in warmer weather but you should size down at least one-half size. The six eyelet design lets you snug them up as needed- or let them go loose if your just hanging out. The nubuck leather looks great and is easy to care for and they are fully leather lined. However, the combination of the leather lining and the foam footbed cause a squeak at the instep as the shoe flexes and the insole rides over it, and it's not a quiet squeak. I used some leather conditioner inside at the instep area and that has made the squeak much quieter, but they still squeak. Overall these are super nice "sneakers" (get it?) from Mephisto and I highly recommend them if they are still available.
