'Hurrikan' Boat Shoe

I've been a Mephisto fan/collector for about 10 years now and feel like, for the most part, they have retained the original high quality and attractive design specifically with their boat shoes. Mephisto is a French company and until recently most of their models were made in France or Portugal. However, in the past few years more and more of their models have an inside sticker indicating that the shoes are made in Croatia, Bosnia, Egypt, and now even Turkey. Not sure if the location of the manufacturing diminishes the quality since the shoes are still made by Mephisto but I also noticed that if you buy the same model/s in France, there is simply no sticker indicating where the shoes are made. Not to mention that the price in France is half (or in some cases even less) of that in the states for the same exact model, which is funny because most other brands are almost always identical in price even though it's in Euro versus Dollar. So this summer I went to at least 3 Mephisto boutiques in different cities in France and couldn't find this particular model in any of them. And for me this is one of the most classic and traditional Mephisto models truly representing this brand. So overall, two thumbs up on the Hurrikans and, of course, nothing beats Nordstrom's customer service and return policy. I just wish that Nordstrom had more Mephisto models available and put them on sale more often but overall, you pay for what you get, so yes, i would highly recommend this virtually indestructible and beautifully crafted boat shoe.
