'Agave' Sandal

Love the style of the Mephisto Agave sandal, and ordered both the "camel" and "light taupe pearl" in two sizes, but was disappointed by three things: #1. These run very wide. Thought at first they'd sent me C width instead of B, but that's just how they're made. #2. Although the footbed is padded, I was expecting a more contoured footbed with arch support, like other Mephisto shoes and sandals I've purchased over the last ten years. The sandals would be passably comfortable, and the heel is well padded. #3. I agree with another reviewer who commended on the light cream colored footbed with the "camel" colored Agave sandals. Doesn't seem very practical. The taupe color has a taupe footbed, which looks nicer in my opinion and would show less dirt. The taupe is pretty, kind of shiney and on the "pinky" side. Prefer the camel, too bad about the contrasting footbed. Size wise, other than being very wide, the 7's were just long enough, and the 8's were too long. A true 7.5 would have been preferred. I'll be returning both pairs of these sandals, might order the "camel" in size 37 if I can't find anything else.

Yes, indeed Mephisto sandals are great for travelling and any other time you need all day comfort. For me they fit true to size in length. But there are two things I didn't like about the black ones I ordered. The footbed is practically white suede. The footbed suede is nice and soft and cushiony, but the whiteness is not practical. Not exactly white, but very light color suede - after one wear around the city the insoles will probably look dirty and you cannot clean suede insoles the same way you can clean regular leather insoles. The insole should be a darker color so it doesn't show dirt and sweat stains. Nothing nastier than seeing a dirty footprint on the insole. The second thing wrong with the pair I received was the footbed was rather narrower than I am used to with Mephisto. I have the same shoe in silver/taupe and the footbed is wider. I buy Mephisto for comfort, although in the case of this shoe it is also attractive, so reducing the width just makes them like any other uncomfortable sandal in the market. I think overall Mephisto is losing its edge in trying to be everything to everyone. They made their reputation in comfort, now they are going after fashion too. Plus their overall quality is not as good as when they first hit the market. My 10 year old Mephistos are in better shape than my 2 year old pairs.

Very disappointed in these sandals. Not as well made or as well fitting as the Parfolia or Pastora both of which I have and find very comfortable. The Agave sandal was very wide and did not provide the good support I like in the other two Mephisto sandals. The Pafolia and Pastora do have a different type sole and run narrower.

This is the second pair of Agave sandals I have purchased this year. I also purchased a similar sandal last year. These are my go to sandals to wear to work and also around the house. The fit is great and the shoes have nice arch support and a low heal. The shoe is a great walking shoe throughout the day. There is an adjustable strap around the width of your toes and instep to give some flexibility to customers that need this option.
