Ojakellukka Duvet Cover & Sham Set

I hesitated to buy this because I didn’t feel I should spend the money, but I’m so glad I splurged. In these stressful and depressing times this cheers me every time I look at it. I occasionally walk into my bedroom just to see how fabulous it is. I always buy king size comforters for my queen size bed to make sure they give my dog and I coverage when we roll over and she hogs the bed. This was a very smart purchase.

I have been a fan of Marimekko's exuberant prints for many years (and many decades). There is such joy in their designs and they always have made me very happy to wear them or have them live in my interiors. With the gloom of the coronavirus, this fabric reached out and said, "Buy me!" I have been looking for years for a lightweight summer queen-size bedspread. This is a duvet, but in my house it's a bedspread. It is surprisingly lightweight. Despite its 200 thread count, it is softer than I expected. However, the shams were much smaller than my Garnet Hill standard size shams. Nonetheless, I crammed my pillows in them, and they'll work. Note: the ground color is not a stark white but has the slightest tint of a drop of brown. It will read white when it's on the bed.

Needed something to brighten our windowless guest bedroom. This definitely fits the bill! The colors are super vibrant. Fabric is a nice weight, and the duvet cover has ties to keep an insert in place. My only critique is that it is a little oversized so with a standard queen insert there's some excess fabric. Not a deal breaker but worth noting. Overall, I'm pleased.

I bought the full size set, and it may seem a little spendy for what you get (cover + 2 shams) but worth it, as the print is beautiful and the material is fairly thick and durable (adding warmth as well), so it seems it will stand up to lots of use and repeated washings. As other reviews noted, it is only 200 tc, so a bit scratchy. After washing twice (inside out), the colors are still as vibrant as the photo, and the material has softened, though still not as soft as I like, so still using sheet underneath the cover in bed. The duvet cover has ties in the corners to attach to your duvet, but I couldn't tie them tight enough so they would stay and not be too difficult to untie for washing - using duvet clips instead, which work fine. The shams are definitely for standard pillow only, and may seem kinda tight, but they look great being overstuffed, as they don't have any texture or padding on their own.
