Maren Woven Mary Jane Flat (Women)

Was super excited about getting these, and have now had a change of heart. They’re comfy for the most part, as long as you don’t need to walk a lot. The color/fabric started tearing after the first few wears and would likely be best for someone with narrow feet. Will start looking for a different pair.

These flat are really cute and look great on, which is why I was excited to wear them. Unfortunately, the quality didn’t match the appearance. After wearing them, they started making a squeaky noise when walking, which is pretty annoying and a bit embarrassing in quiet places. I still love the design, but the material and overall quality could definitely be improved. If the squeaking issue was fixed, they would be perfect.

The shoe looks great. But it’s 100% synthetic. They designed the outsole to be thin, hard, and slick, to make the look of a new leather outsole. But without the give of true leather, it’s just slippery and uncomfortable. I’m debating keeping them, but getting them resoled. Or returning them. I wish they had leaned into the synthetic, and made it a little more rubbery, for better grip and a little more give. They probably run in between a regular width and a narrow. Just great for me. They gripped the heel better than most flats. But they still have enough space in the forefront and toes area. If you have problems with flats slipping on the heel, this might be a good pair for you. (That’s the main reason I might keep them.)
