The Small Transport Crossbody Bag

Ok, so this bag is perfect. The leather is gorgeous, its not shiny but its not matte, the strap is strong, the inside is HUGE - and I mean surprisingly roomy for the size of this purse. It's structured and stands up on its own and has zipper closure (necessary in my opinion). I don't know how to explain it but it fits EVERYTHING while still appearing compact, cute and fashionable. Why are you still reading this review, purchase this bag right now you wont regret it!!

This is the third Madewell bag I've bought, and the second of this size. I've been a fickle designer bag fan for longer than my husband cares to think about and Madewell's really won me over. I really like the simplicity and functionality of this shape and size. I also have the big transport tote in brown and one similar to this in blue and I love them both. This one is great for everyday since it fits my wallet, glasses case, phone, keys, airpods, lotion and sanitizer just right. I can also occasionally fit hubby's wallet or keys or one of the kids' items without a problem. I'm not tall- only 5'2" and I tend to fill big bags and make them too heavy, so this one's a good size both proportionately and practically. I love how the leather wears over time. The patina gives it character without making it look tired. The structure is good without being too stiff, so it can stand upright but it's still soft and flexible enough to be comfortable against my body. It isn't a statement bag, for sure, but the quality is excellent. Definitely recommend, especially if you can snag one on sale.

This bag is cute but small. I bought this bag in. November 2020 and it's had light use since then. Well, on May 19, 2021, its use (the strap, anyway) broke at the latch. The main reason I liked this bag was to carry it with the strap. It's so cheap, I wouldn't recommend this bag unless you're going to hand carry it.

I have the transport crossbody bag in two sizes and colors now. I bought this because I have had the large transport crossbody (in black) for three years and use it as a work bag five days a week, and it is still in perfect condition. I just got the small one in brown, and it is a great addition. The brown is a great color that can go with any range of clothing colors. The quality of the bag is outstanding - as the name suggests “Madewell.” It truly is made well. One thing I’m so weary of when buying purses is whether or not the zipper is smooth or jagged - because some zippers aren’t as quality/smooth and will actually start to tear up the skin of your hand when you reach in too many times. I don’t have that problem with this bag because of the high quality of the zipper. The same can be said about the quality of the leather and the lining of the purse.. just a really great every day bag.

The sale video convinced me initially. Got the dark Baltic but the leather is tough and no exterior convenient pocket like in the video. Turns out, only 2 of the 4 colors had the pocket if you look carefully at their pictures. Very deceiving and waste of time to return and get another after the sales ended.

This bag is everything I hoping for. It’s lightweight, well made and the perfect size. I usually carry a tote but it winds up being a dumping ground for everything. This keeps from throwing everything in my purse but still hold everything I truly need. This review is being written during Covid-19. Having a cross body bag is essential and this one is the bomb.
