Huge A-line cut legs, silly looking
These run large, definitely size down one size. I am a size 28 in Levi's shorts, a 27 in most Madewell, I ordered these in a 27 and would need a 26 but I'm returning them. My stats: 126lbs, 5'8". Pros: loved the wash & feel of the denim. Cons: the legs are cut very wide and stick out on the side, picture an A-line skirt or dress and that is what these shorts do. Would be better with 2 inches less of material sticking out.

Nice quality and wash; but not for petites
I tried 23, 24, and 25. I have Madewell jeans in 25, but 23 looked best. Still, a tad too flaring out/long and not flattering on my petite frame.

Love the longer length
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the long Essex shorts for their fit and comfort: They sit nicely on the waist for a relaxed fit. I wish they were less distressed, but love them still.

Creases started before I even wore them
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will probably take these back. I bought 2 pairs of the perfect vintage shorts and love them. The quality is there and the material is a little heavier. I came home after purchasing the Essex and tried them on, after a few minutes of trying them on with a few tops, they had lateral creases. I cant wear these the way they look. I will probably try the darker pair bc they look less likely to stretch out.
