I still love it a year later!!

I've had my backpack for over a year now and it's still going strong! I had been looking for a high quality leather backpack after so many of my leather purses kept falling apart at the straps. I carry a 40oz metal water bottle and a regular purse just can't withstand the use. Plus, having two straps distributes the weight better than just a one-shoulder bag. The leather is tough and all the zippers and hardware are holding up. Nothing has broken, torn, frayed, nothing! I have even had my water bottle accidentally leak in the bag a few times and I just used a blow dryer to dry it out and you can't even tell it ever happened. If anything, I do wish it maybe had a divider or another large pocket inside, but it's very roomy. I don't wear light colors so I can't speak about the color rub-off some of the other reviews mention...I've not noticed anything like that. This is a workhouse of a bag and I'm so happy it looks like I'll be able to use it for years to come!

Very disappointed with this

I must preface with how much I LOVE Madewell. I have 8 leather bags and counting. I am a leather connoisseur and know how to care from my leather products. With that said: I absolutely hate this bag. The zipper is beyond frustrating. I thought it would get better with use. It actually gets worse. The thin straps look awful after use. I can't even fit my 13 inch laptop in there because theres no divider so I then use my Madewell laptop sleeve and that thing cant fit in there. So, I end up using two bags to carry what I need. The black damaged one of my shirts from the dye. This was paid full asking price and I am past the return window. I was using the bag 3 days a week, if that. Now it just sits there. What a waste of money. I don't recommend this bag. It is so expensive for a mediocre product. Very upset with this purchase because I have been so pleased with my countless other Madewell purchases.

Everyday Backpack

I was so happy to find this bag on this site because all Madewell stores in NYC no longer carried this backpack. Even their site had the black one on backorder and I’m told this is a very popular product. I just needed a sturdy everyday leather backpack that goes with everything. When I received it the leather thicker than I thought and was stiff. After carrying it everyday since, it feels more broken in. As other reviewers mention, the zipper is not as smooth but that’s also getting better. Fits 13” Macbook, water bottle, paperback book, makeup pouch, wallet and still have more room. This has been through snow storms and hail, but it seems waterproof.

English Saddle Backpack

Sturdy well made backpack. Bought the brown English Saddle leather version. Upscale style good for work when client papers are overflowing.

Backpacks

This is a beautiful leather backpack. It has plenty of room for almost anything. I can't say enough great things about it. Also, I ordered online and it was here in record time. I just love Nordstrom and their products. Great backpack.

Fantastic backpack

Love this backpack! It is the perfect size without being too big. I wanted a step bigger than my Kanken backpack and this was perfect! I love the soft leather.
