Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

For quick review: PROS: -Truly waterproof, but will wash off easy with soap and water -Last ALL DAY on my extremely combo skin (oily T zone, desert dry cheeks) -Did not break out my sensitive skin -Color matches perfectly -Great coverage that is build-able -No Gluten interaction (cannot guarantee it has none, but I didn't get any hives!) CONS: -Dries super fast, use lots of Fix+ spray to keep it liquid enough to get a good application -Can feel like a "mask," on the skin, even though it doesn't look like it -Can settle in pores and fine lines IF you DO NOT use a primer (I use 'Prep + Prime' Natural Radiance Base in yellow tone) -Not for someone looking for a super lightweight or "natural," coverage -Not for inexperienced makeup gals (due to it's super fast drying time) Here's the deal, I have skin that literally looks like the texture of an orange peel, more like a baby satsuma, as I don't have a lot of active acne now, though I did suffer terribly with acne all through puberty and well into my late late 20's. This foundation was recommended to me by my fave M.A.C. gal because she knows I like a nice medium coverage to help hide some past marks. It does cover insanely well, but I feel this foundation isn't for people who are new to makeup or are seeking that "i'm not wearing makeup, but i'm totallllly wearing makeup," look. Like I said in the "pros," short review, this is truly waterproof, but washes off nicely, has never caused my insanely sensitive skin to break out, however if you are not using a primer you're really going to hate it unless you are one of those magic gals who has flawless skin naturally. Onto the not so great, on my face it can feel "tight," though I don't get any cracking or weird patches wearing off, it stays pretty even. Also it dries really really (no REALLY) fast, so wet that sponge till it's almost dripping, or soak your face in Fix+ before you put it on. All in all, I don't love it, I don't hate it. I feel like I haven't found my HG yet, I'll probably try a different foundation next time.

Let me preface this by saying I usually never write reviews. I like heavy duty makeup that can withstand my 10+ Hr work shift, and this foundation has met my expectations! I used to work for a luxury cosmetics brand at a counter in my local department store and have, in turn, tried so many foundations. First the color NC30 is a perfect match for my skin in the winter (other good matches for me are: 40 in Chanel foundations, 30 in Dior air flash, 4 Natural in Bobbi Brown long wear, 3N1 in Estée Lauder Double Wear- just to name a few). I like full coverage and I can get that with about 2 layers of this foundation using the Bobbi Brown full coverage face brush (a dense synthetic buffer brush). This foundation is one of very few that did not break apart on my combination sensitive skin. The only issue with this foundation I have is that is does not play well with certain types of setting powders. The wrong powder makes this foundation look "Cakey" and somewhat grainy on top of the skin. I have found that it works well with the Bobbi Brown skin compact powder foundation, the Bobbi Brown sheer setting powder, the Chanel double perfection foundation powder, the Laura Mercier translucent setting powder, and the Nars setting powder just to name a few. Overall I have a feeling this will be my go to foundation during the winter when I need a bullet proof full coverage look. I cannot attest to the waterproof claim to this foundation yet however as I have not gotten my face wet while wearing it.

I started using this when I hit very early menopause. I can not tell you how wonderful it is to have a foundation that is sweat proof. This holds up till you wash it off. 90 degree sunny day, not a problem. Cold outside but sweating when you have a hot flash not a problem. This does not budge. It does not set the second I put it on my foundation brush, giving me time to apply it. But once it sets it does not budge, This product allows me to leave the house with confidence.
