Lucie Embroidered Cotton Midi Dress

After having it on my Nordstrom wishlist/cart for a few days, I ended up buying this at Madewell directly because it was only ~$70 there! I suggest looking into a price match after you order just in case. Anyway, the color is beautiful, but very slightly darker in person than the photo. The material is soft and a great quality weight while still being breathable. The length is not too long for my height (5'4). I got a size 2 - weight is 130, bust is 32A, waist around 26" and hips around 35" for reference. The ruffles are much more pronounced around the shoulders than they are on the bust, which I didn't mind on my figure, but I likely would have preferred more ruffle volume in the front with the shoulder ruffles a little toned down. The smocked top does not feel too stiff or tight, it's actually more comfortable and it stops the form-fitting area right at the most flattering part, so my waist is still highlighted but the skirt portion smooths my stomach if I've been dining a lot :) An excellent transition piece for fall. I'd actually love to see it layered over a thin black/chocolate turtleneck with matching tall leather boots.
