Love Hibiscus Eau de Parfum (Nordstrom Exclusive)

This is a polarizing scent to say the least and am thrilled it works for me! As others have noted, this is not in alignment with the other fragrances in The Secret Garden Collection but hibiscus is a very different olfactory experience when compared to a more traditional floral composition. I detect every note in this perfume as it opens with a very tart hibiscus (think cranberry) and slightly tropical passion fruit. The orris is not powdery but more earthy and root like. When this combines with the initial hint of sweetness the juxtaposition does feel “off” and can see how this can sour on one’s skin. For me it remains tart and then smooths out to remind me of hibiscus tea with some sweetness. The frankincense is very subdued and has a slight metallic edge that is more apparent on skin than clothing. This wears close to the skin and after a few hours it remains a lightly sweetened creamy hibiscus scent with soft woods. The only other Amouage fragrances I own are Musk Abyadh and Love Delight. The 5 star rating is based on the uniqueness of the scent and the restraint that Jerome Epinette used while creating this. Not all fragrances need to shout their presence. Bonus for the bottle color!
