Hypnôse 8 Mascara

I adore Lancôme. I especially have adored the beautiful, luxurious factor of every product that the brand has released. I love their mascaras. To have heard that Lancôme released not just a colored mascara, but a colored mascara with actual depth, richness, and pearl? The amount of excitement I had was unreal. Lancôme hits so many things right with this mascara. The packaging is beautiful. The colors are perfectly dark and metallic, in shades that I've always dreamed that mascaras would come in. The scent is extremely strong (so strong I can smell it on my face), but I'm also someone who adores the super powerful scent, and I'd be sad if it went away. The only thing that makes me give this mascara four stars, is that I believe that the formula is on the lower end of Lancôme's range. Don't get me wrong-- this is a not at all a bad mascara. However, the reviewers are right when they say that the mascara is dry/flaky. It is *good* at volumizing and lengthening, but it doesn't do either particularly well. It's a weird middle ground, and it just doesn't work well. Lancôme, please, keep making these colors. But this formula is not great.

I adored Lancôme Grandiose Extreme for years, and the Hypnôse 8 is the latest product that utterly fails to replace the discontinued one I loved. Hypnôse does almost nothing. It doesn’t create volume; if you try to build, it’s largely ineffective but gives you a little spider clumping after a while. If you use it without a primer, it just barely tints the color of your lashes, without adding length or volume. The packaging is really pleasant and the brush is ok but not stellar. But like others have noted, this almost like not wearing any mascara. Monsieur Big and even the cheap drug store stuff are much more effective than this.
