Cresta Stretch Waterproof Hooded Rain Jacket

I bought this jacket for a vacation in New Zealand with high hopes since it says in multiple places that this is a waterproof rain jacket. I was soaked through to my shirt within the first 10minutes of a hike, had to turn around and purchase a new rain jacket. For the price, I would expect better quality. I wouldn't even say this is water resistant. It is a nice looking jacket, it is a shell so light weight. I bought a large and it fit well with a layer underneath. But would use as a wind jacket not for rain.
