Zero grip
I've been getting Konseal shoes for years now. Their shape just works for my feet. For some reason these new ones have no grip whatsoever. I did a few light snow walks with them and I was slipping all over the place. I would not recommend these for winter activities whatsoever.
arcteryx.com response
Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the new Konseal shoes. We’re really sorry to hear that the traction didn’t meet your expectations, especially since this line has worked well for you in the past. We understand how frustrating it must feel to slip during light snow walks, and your feedback is important. The Konseal series is designed primarily for approach and scrambling on rock, where the outsole is optimized for precision and grip on dry, technical terrain rather than winter or icy conditions. That said, your experience highlights how the shoe performed outside that intended use, and we’ll be sure to pass this along to our product team.

Too narrow. Very stiff.
Shoes were too narrow for my normal width foot. They were also quite stiff.
arcteryx.com response
Hello there, thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re sorry to hear that the Konseal felt too narrow and stiff for your foot. This model is built for demanding approaches, so its design prioritizes stability, protection, and precision over a more relaxed, everyday feel. The abrasion‑resistant upper and supportive underfoot platform are meant to handle uneven terrain, scree, snow, and heavy loads, which can make the shoe feel stiffer out of the box. A quick product tip: the Konseal is intentionally made with a Precision Fit, meaning it sits snug across the width of the foot with slightly less space in front of the toes to enhance control on technical ground. We appreciate your feedback, and we hope it helps others choose the best fit for their needs.

Plantar relief!
Great shoes if you suffer from Plantar Faciitis. Whilst not specifically designed for this the support offered to the foot arch area combined with an excellent heel cup providing secure and longlasting support.
Traction is very good with well placed lugs that clear easily and a sticky secure surface in the wet.
This is my second pair meaning I can swap them around without ttashing them and looking to buy a third pair soon.
They also look fantastic too!

Approach Approved!
During my first wear test I felt the durability apparent in the exterior reinforced rubber walls, well lugged sole, and convenient lace garage. Since then I've worn them for 2 months straight and I'm impressed with the design choices to make an approach shoe that fits in on the trail, days of long travel, and even on production sets as a low profile work shoe.
