Lovely foundation
I love this, so glad I took a chance and ordered it. I prep my skin minimally—one drop of face oil patted on, then a slightly tinted sunscreen. No primer.
This went on beautifully smooth, no pilling, no catching onto dry spots. I use a light hand with foundation and I love the control I have with this formula. The brush that comes with it is perfect. Oh, and I am 67 years old; you can still see a few red capillaries around my chin, so the coverage is light but definitely could be layered for more. I choose to let my skin show, with just a bit of smoothing.

So far, not so good.
I had been wanting to try this ‘balm’ and finally decided to bite the bullet and fork over the dough. How they can call this a balm is mind boggling. A balm is normally thick, smooth and moisturizing. This is dry and cakey and makes my skin look dry, dull and ashy. Yuck. A terrible purchase for me!

The BEST Foundation
I have struggled with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks my entire adult life, and have searched for the perfect foundation for over 30 years. I've tried Exuvience, Dior, Lancome, MAC, Make Up ForEver, all of the high end brands. Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation was my go-to until I found this. Kevyn Aucoin's Foundation Balm is THE BEST foundation I have ever used. I am no makeup artist but this makes me feel like one. It glides on and disappears, and with another swipe it's full coverage. It matched my skin perfectly and didn't move, even in the Arizona summer sun. I have immediately become afraid this will be discontinued because it's absolute perfection, buying a couple more right now. Seriously, this is AWESOME. RIP Kevyn, but whomever you left in charge of your company REALLY knows what they are doing.

I was hesitant ordering a cream based foundation because these never work on me. I am Stromboli in Nars and Tres Leches shade in Huda Beauty. Ordered this one, got on time. The little cute brush is great! KA never disappoints. The formula is rich and a lil goes a long way. I have been using full coverage foundations for years and this has capability to provide almost the same coverage. The formula is buildable. And the best thing it did not cause any break out or acne. My skin is combination and rarely foundations work including tarte, too faced, clinique etc. Lets see how long this packing lasts!! I ordered 7.5, 8, 9 and 10 shades and kept 10 as it was the closest match. Hard to differentiate, totally depends on undertone. That's why 4 stars and not 5

After watching a bunch of YouTube vids about ppl with dry skin trashing this foundation, I was a little concerned about how this is going to work on my very dry face. But with proper priming on my face the night before and in the morning, this foundation might even look better on my face than my La Prairie foundation. I apply moisturizer AND a few drops of oil to my face (so yeah this is how dry my face is lol) in the morning, let that set in a little, and then I take a dampened foundation brush to apply this foundation. I get a pretty light and natural look from this foundation when I apply it this way (medium coverage; can build up to full if more layers applied). At first the shade looks a tiny bit light on me, but over time it oxidizes and matches my face perfectly. I also like how easy it is to carry this foundation around and not have it spilled everywhere.

I’ve had this before in a lighter shade, but needed something darker for summer. It gives an amazing smooth finish, dries down to a soft powdery look. A little goes a long way!!!!
